On July 31, 2026, the Culianan District Rural Improvement Club and 4H Club successfully conducted a Feeding Program at Lagakit Elementary School, in partnership with Hon. Frederick Atilano, City Councilor (District 2); the Salaan Barangay Council, headed by Hon. Regalado Faustino; the Salaan Sangguniang Kabataan, headed by Hon. Ian Angeles; and School Principal Dr. Eric Quisil.

This activity was held in celebration of the 52nd Nutrition Month, with the theme: โ€œNutrisyon at Kalikasan Ating Pangalagaan.โ€

A total of 150 students benefited from the program. Hot Lomi and biscuits were served. The initiative highlights the strong commitment of local officials, school administrators, and youth organizations to promote the health and well-being of the students.

A wonderful step toward sustainable livelihood took place last July 28, 2026, at Barangay Guisao! ๐ŸŽ‰

The hardworking women of Guisao Farmer Women SLPA gathered for a hands-on training focused on making high-quality Peanut Butter and Peanut Brittle. This activity was expertly facilitated by competent Trainors from TESDA, with the presence and support of RIC Coordinators who witnessed this meaningful learning session.

This training is a key part of the groupโ€™s Livelihood Program โ€” designed to help them turn their local peanut harvest into marketable, value-added products. By learning proper processing techniques, food safety standards, and quality control, these women are now better equipped to start their own small business, increase their income, and improve the lives of their families and their community.

On July 24, 2026, the Culianan District Rural Improvement Club joined the Nutrition Month 2026 celebration with the theme โ€œKalusugan at Kalikasan Ating Pangalagaanโ€, in partnership with the Culianan Barangay Council led by Hon. Mark Anthony Saavedra.

Thirteen Rural Improvement Clubs (RICs) from across the Culianan District participated in the activity. They showcased their products during the event, including fresh vegetables, fruits, and value-added goods. Eight RICs also took part in the RIC Zumba Dance Contest.

The program was attended by City Agriculturist Arben E. Magdugo; Assistant Field Officer Jocelyn Galvez; City Health Representative Eric Bangkal; Agribusiness Chief Daniel Espiritusanto; IBD Staff Renewin Santander and Ivy Viesca; and RIC Coordinators.

After the event, rice distribution to all participants was carried out. This was sponsored by City Mayor Khymer Olaso and represented by his wife, Maโ€™am Mary Joy Olaso.

A dedicated orientation briefing for the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program (GPP) was held on July 21, bringing together key education and agriculture stakeholders to strengthen the implementation of the school gardening initiative across the district.

Attending the activity were GPP Coordinators representing 29 schools from Culianan District, alongside resource persons and program leads: Mr. Aison Dalinsog, City NUPAP Banner Coordinator; Mr. Adones Nicanor, City HVCDP Banner Coordinator; Mr. Ahmad A. Nahul, Al-Hadj. Agricultural Field Officer; and the Culianan District Program Coordinators.

The session centered on a thorough review and discussion of City Ordinance No. 930, the local legislation that formally institutionalizes and reinforces the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program in all public elementary and secondary schools within the city. Participants were oriented on the ordinanceโ€™s provisions, policy mandates, and the shared responsibilities required to sustain functional, productive school gardens.

A key highlight of the gathering was the reaffirmation of a strong, unified partnership between the Culianan District administration and all participating schools. Officials emphasized that close coordination, collaborative planning, and consistent support from all parties are vital to ensuring the programโ€™s successโ€”from establishing garden plots to harvesting produce that supplements learnersโ€™ nutrition and teaches values of sustainability and self-reliance.

With all coordinators now properly oriented on the legal framework and implementation guidelines, schools in Culianan District are set to roll out more organized and impactful GPP activities in the coming school year.

The District Agriculture and Fishery Council (DAFC) held its 3rd Quarter Meeting and Re-election of Officers on July 20, 2026, bringing together key agricultural leaders and stakeholders to align programs, update guidelines, and usher in new leadership for the 2026โ€“2029 term.

Presiding over the gathering were Mr. Arben E. Magdugo, City Agriculturist; Mr. Arnulfo Estrada of DA-APCO; Mr. Ahmad A. Nahul, Al-Hadj, Agricultural Field Officer; Mr. Raul Ramon Bucoy, Chair of HUCAFC; and Mr. Daniel Espiritusanto, Chief of the Agribusiness Division.

During the session, City Agriculturist Magdugo emphasized three critical areas: the new guidelines for RSBSA applications, the updated bylaws of farmer associations, and the vital role of unity and cooperation among farmer-members in advancing the sectorโ€™s goals .
