𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒: The Maritime Security Law Enforcement Command proudly celebrates the international recognition bestowed upon SN2 Nick-Nick S Udasan PCG and SN2 Ian Glenn B Morfe PCG of Coast Guard Sea Marshal Force who were awarded Certificate of Commendation by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) under the prestigious IMO Honours for Exceptional Bravery at Sea.

The recognition was conferred in acknowledgment of their extraordinary courage, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to duty during the sinking of M/V Trisha Kerstin 3 off the waters of Baluk, Baluk Island.

Serving as the vessel's duty Sea Marshals, SN2 Udasan PCG and SN2 Morfe PCG demonstrated exceptional bravery in the face of a life-threatening maritime emergency. Despite the imminent danger to their own lives, they remained steadfast in performing their responsibilities, helping safeguard the lives of those on board through their calm judgment, quick response, and selfless actions.

Their exemplary conduct reflects the highest standards of service expected of every Philippine Coast Guard Sea Marshal.

This prestigious international recognition highlights the PhilippineCoast Guard's commitment to maintaining a highly trained, competent, and mission-ready workforce through continuous capability development and operational readiness.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 : On 21 June 2026, through the initiative and advocacy of the Commandant, Philippine Coast Guard, under the Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Response, and Enforcement (iCARE) Program, and with the continued support of the Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CGDSWM), the 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗘𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 (𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗦𝗟𝗘𝗚 𝗦𝗪𝗠) successfully conducted a 𝘽𝙤𝙢𝙗 𝙏𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩, 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚 (𝙄𝙀𝘿), 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡, 𝘽𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡, 𝙍𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙉𝙪𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 (𝘾𝘽𝙍𝙉) 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙇𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 aboard Integrated Bus Terminal, MCLL Highway, Divisoria, Zamboanga City.

The activity brought together officials and personnel from the Integrated Bus Terminal - Zamboanga City and Barangay Divisoria, Zamboanga City, with the goal of enhancing their knowledge and preparedness in responding to potential security threats. Participants were equipped with essential information on recognizing suspicious activities, understanding the proper protocols during bomb threats, and appreciating the importance of coordinated response efforts among security agencies and local stakeholders.

Following the lecture, the 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗞𝟵 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 showcased the capabilities of its highly trained 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙤𝙜𝙨 (𝙀𝘿𝘿) through a live demonstration. The exercise highlighted the critical role of K9 teams in detecting explosive materials, supporting preventive security measures, and ensuring the safety of transportation hubs, critical infrastructure, and public spaces.

This activity highlights the Philippine Coast Guard's commitment to keeping communities safe by promoting public awareness, preparedness, and strong partnerships with local government units and stakeholders. Through continuous education and collaboration, the PCG encourages everyone to stay vigilant, immediately report any suspicious persons or unattended items to the proper authorities, and actively support community safety efforts. By working together, we can help create a safer, more secure, and more resilient community for all.

𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈: On 18 July 2026, the 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗘𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 (𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗦𝗟𝗘𝗚 𝗦𝗪𝗠), with the support of the Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CGDSWM), successfully conducted a 𝙍𝙖𝙣𝙠 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 at the Coast Guard K9 Field Operating Unit Southwestern Mindanao, Port of Zamboanga, Zamboanga City.

The inspection was led by LCDR Pedmar A. Maldora, PCG, and covered personnel wearing both the 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘈𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦 (𝘎𝘖𝘈) and 𝘉𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘋𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮 (𝘉𝘋𝘜). The activity aimed to ensure compliance with prescribed uniform standards, proper wearing of ranks and insignias, and adherence to the Philippine Coast Guard's policies on appearance, discipline, and professionalism.

Rank inspections are an essential part of maintaining organizational readiness and reinforcing the values of discipline, accountability, and esprit de corps among Coast Guard personnel. 𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈: On 13 July 2026, the 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗘𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 (𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗦𝗟𝗘𝗚 𝗦𝗪𝗠) and Sub-units, with the support of the 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 (𝗖𝗚𝗗𝗦𝗪𝗠), successfully conducted a 𝘾𝙤𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙣-𝙐𝙥 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 along the coast of R.T. Lim Boulevard, Zamboanga City.

The activity was participated in by personnel from the HCGDSWM, Coast Guard Station Zamboanga, Coast Guard Sub-Station Cawit, and other Operational Control (OPCON) units of CGDSWM, in collaboration with partner agencies, namely the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Seaport Interdiction Unit (PDEA-SIU) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region IX – Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR IX CENRO) Zamboanga City. Working together, the participants collected and properly disposed of coastal waste, demonstrating their shared commitment to environmental protection and marine conservation.

This meaningful initiative forms part of the commemorative activities in celebration of the upcoming 12th Founding Anniversary of the Maritime Security Law Enforcement Command (MARSLEC). Beyond promoting environmental stewardship, the activity highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation in preserving the cleanliness and sustainability of our coastal communities.

𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈: On 12 July 2026, the 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗘𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 (𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗦𝗟𝗘𝗚 𝗦𝗪𝗠) proudly participated in the Closing Ceremony of the 1st Batch of 𝘾𝙤𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙂𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙊𝙧𝙙𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙖𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 (𝘾𝙂𝙀𝙊𝙍𝙏) conducted by Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) – San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm, Barangay Talisayan, Zamboanga City.

Through the guidance, directives, and unwavering support of the Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CGDSWM), MARSLEG SWM successfully supported the conduct of the training from 07 – 12 July 2026 by deploying personnel from the 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗞𝟵 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹 (𝗖𝗚𝗞𝟵 𝗘𝗢𝗗) 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻 and the 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹, 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹, 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝘂𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼. Highlighting the event, LCDR Pedmar A Maldora PCG, Officer-In-Charge, MARSLEG SWM served as the guest of honor and speaker, delivering an inspiring message that emphasized the importance of professionalism, preparedness, inter-agency collaboration, and the shared commitment to safeguarding communities through enhanced security capabilities.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: On July 03, 2026, the 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗘𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 (𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗦𝗟𝗘𝗚 𝗦𝗪𝗠), with the unwavering support of the 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 (𝗖𝗚𝗗𝗦𝗪𝗠), successfully conducted the 2𝙣𝙙 𝙌𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙇𝙖𝙬 𝙀𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘿𝙧𝙞𝙡𝙡 aboard MV Santa Dorothea at the Port of Zamboanga, Zamboanga City.

The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Coast Guard Station Zamboanga and the Coast Guard K9 Field Operating Unit BARMM, with the participation of MARSLEG SWM sub-units, namely:

• Coast Guard K9 Field Operating Unit
• Coast Guard K9 – Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Group
• Coast Guard Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Unit
• Coast Guard Sea Marshal Unit
• Coast Security Border Protection Unit
• Coast Investigation and Detection Unit
• Coast Guard Surface Patrol Unit

The drill featured realistic operational scenarios designed to enhance the preparedness, coordination, and operational response capabilities of participating units. These scenarios included the detection and interception of a suspected 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗧𝗜𝗣) attempt through unauthorized "backdoor" access, followed by the apprehension of the suspected illegal recruiter; the 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 being transported aboard a passenger vessel; and the Identification and 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 through real-time operational procedures.

This exercise underscores the Philippine Coast Guard's continuing commitment to strengthening maritime security, improving inter-unit coordination, and ensuring the safety and security of the country's ports, vessels, and maritime domain through realistic and capability-based training.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒: The 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗘𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 (𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗦𝗟𝗘𝗚 𝗦𝗪𝗠) and its Sub-units, together with personnel from other Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) units, actively participated in the 𝘊𝘰𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘎𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘵 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘸𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘰 (𝘊𝘎𝘋𝘚𝘞𝘔) 2𝘯𝘥 𝘘𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘗𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘍𝘪𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘛𝘦𝘴𝘵 (𝘗𝘍𝘛) held from 23 to 24 June 2026 at the Headquarters, Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao, Special Economic Zone Authority and Freeport, Sitio San Ramon, Barangay Talisayan, Zamboanga City.

The quarterly Physical Fitness Test is an integral part of the Philippine Coast Guard's ongoing efforts to enhance the physical fitness, discipline, and overall well-being of its personnel. Through a series of standardized fitness assessments, the activity evaluated the participants' strength, endurance, and physical preparedness, ensuring they remain capable, resilient, and mission-ready to effectively carry out their responsibilities in maritime safety, maritime security, law enforcement, and marine environmental protection.
