Upon the directives of Regional Director Rhoaisa S. Matolo-Mukaram, JD, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Regional Office IX-A, through its Socio-Economic Development Division (SEDD), participated in the Industry Consultation for the Proposed Diploma Program in Food Technology conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) on July 24, 2026, at Tindalo Hall, LM Hotel. Representing NCMF Region IX-A were Arraudha L. Hadjirul, Development Management Officer III, and Jemalyn K. Lari, Administrative Aide IV.
The consultation served as a platform for gathering inputs and recommendations from government agencies, academic institutions, industry representatives, and other stakeholders with expertise in food technology, halal awareness, research, training, and curriculum development. The initiative aims to ensure that the proposed three-year Diploma Program aligns with industry requirements, national competency standards, and the Philippine Qualifications Framework (PQF) Level 5. It also seeks to develop a curriculum that will modernize the country's technical-vocational education and training system, making it more responsive to the evolving needs and demands of the food industry.
During the consultation, the NCMF representatives actively participated in the workshops, focus group discussions, and consultation sessions, providing inputs on curriculum content and the NCMF competency standards related to Halal Auditing Services, Laboratory Services, Inspection Services, Food Handling, and Cleaning Services. During the open forum, they also highlighted the importance of integrating halal knowledge into the curriculum to ensure that it is inclusive, culturally sensitive, and responsive to the needs of Muslim communities. Through this collaborative engagement, NCMF reaffirmed its commitment to providing religious and institutional support in the development of the Diploma Program, ensuring that it aligns with halal standards while promoting quality technical education for the benefit of all stakeholders.
