The Local Government Unit (LGU) of South Ubian successfully celebrated the 68th Kalahilan, the municipality's annual Municipal Day, through a day of meaningful activities that highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the Sama people while strengthening unity, camaraderie, and community pride among its constituents.

The celebration commenced with a colorful cultural parade featuring participants clad in traditional Sama attire. The procession was joined by the Council of Elders, barangay officials, uniformed personnel, representatives from national government agencies, civil society organizations, fraternities, educational institutions, and various community sectors, reflecting the collective commitment of the municipality to preserve and promote its cultural identity.

Following the parade, the Best in Traditional Sama Attire competition showcased the beauty and authenticity of Sama culture, with Barangay Likud Tabawan emerging as the champion for its exemplary presentation.

The morning activities was concluded with small feeding program from the South Ubian Women's Council headed by honorable Vice-mayor Rofaida A. Matba to 200 kids who were present during that day.

The festivities continued in the evening with the Variety Show Contest, where participating barangays captivated the audience through synchronized Igal Kamattowahan, modern Kiring-Kiring, and contemporary dance performances. The event provided a platform for local talents to demonstrate creativity, discipline, and teamwork while celebrating the municipality's vibrant cultural traditions.

An awarding ceremony capped the celebration, recognizing the outstanding performances and culinary presentations of the participating barangays.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of South Ubian, in partnership with Tabawan Integrated School, Lawm Tabawan Central Elementary School, MILG, South Ubian Police Station, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Philippine Marine Corps, proudly commemorated the 128th Philippine Independence Day through a parade and a solemn Flag Raising Ceremony.

The celebration served as a meaningful reminder of the sacrifices and heroism of our forefathers in securing the nationโ€™s freedom and sovereignty. It also reinforced the values of patriotism, unity, and civic responsibility among the people of South Ubian.
