*IDM Farmer Training in Charsadda*

An IDM farmer training session was successfully held at OFWM Charsadda Office, under FCDO funded WRAP programme, where 45 male and 15 female farmers participated in addition to representatives from Agri Research extension and academia.

Key Highlights:
- Climate change and water availability
- Over/under irrigation and crop yield impacts
- Soil Moisture Sensors for smarter irrigation
- Groundwater depletion due to over-extraction

The OFWM Director highlighted how over-irrigation affects productivity and causes waterlogging. He assured of laser land leveling to farmers who would adopt SMS.

Engr. Kifayat Zaman shared overview of WRAP interventions and it's benefits for farmers, while Mr. Naqash Abbasi demonstrated Soil Moisture Sensor usage and its impact on yield, crop health and installation mechanism and working principle.

A one-day farmers’ training was conducted by the On-Farm Water Management, Charsadda, under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Irrigated Agriculture Improvement Project on the Android mobile application “AGRI MANDI.”

The main objective of the training session was to enable farmers to supply and sell their agricultural products (vegetables and fruits) online to the doorstep of the local community as well as to the market.

World Bank Team Visits Charsadda!

A World Bank delegation visited Mogha No. 12120/R, Distry Khanmai (CCA: 325 acres) to review OFWM project interventions. The team expressed satisfaction with the work quality and praised the scheme’s positive impact on farmers’ livelihoods.

👏 The WUA Chairman thanked the OFWM team, noting that the project has made irrigation easier and cheaper, reduced labor and costs, expanded cultivable land, and increased agricultural income.

Farmers also requested additional lining work to further enhance water efficiency.
