GC University, Faisalabad has emerged as a leading center of learning and research in a short span of time. The GC University’s journey started as a primary school in 1897 in the present building of Govt. It was promoted to High School and Intermediate College in 1905 and 1924 respectively. It was elevated to the degree level in 1933 and postgraduate disciplines were introduced in 1963. The long journey that started with the humble beginning reached its climax when it was granted the status of University in October 2002. The GC University, Faisalabad has a long history of excellence and distinction as an institution. Renowned scholars and eminent personalities have served this institution in various capacities at various stages of its history. It has produced outstanding personnel who have earned great fame not only for themselves but also for the nation.

A senior delegation of Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, has departed for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to participate in the workshop “Strengthening Genomic Data Security Safeguards at Advanced Research Institutions in Pakistan.”

The programme is supported by Health Security Partners (HSP), USA, with training delivered by experts from Sention, Australia.

The GCUF delegation includes Prof. Dr. Farhat Jabeen, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hidayat Rasool, Director, Institute of Microbiology; Dr. Muhammad Tahir ul Qamar, Deputy Director, Directorate of International Linkages; Dr. Muhammad Umer Sarwar, Manager IT services; Mr. Moeen Qureshi, Manager operations ; and Dr. Zia Ashraf, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Medical Sciences.

During the visit, the delegation will also explore opportunities for joint research, academic exchange, training, and institutional collaboration with Malaysian universities.

The Department of Software Engineering, Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), in collaboration with TinyTech Robotics, organized an engaging seminar titled “Robotics, AI & Automation” at the NBRC Seminar Hall, Department of Physics.

The seminar provided students with an opportunity to explore the rapidly evolving fields of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, STEM, and Automation through interactive learning, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities.

Students were introduced to the fundamentals of robotics, including sensors, motors, controllers, programming, autonomous movement, and obstacle detection, along with real-world applications of robotics and AI in areas such as industry, healthcare, agriculture, logistics, space, and other emerging fields.

The live demonstrations and interactive activities generated considerable interest among students, allowing them to experience robotics technology beyond the classroom and gain awareness of future learning and career opportunities in emerging technologies.

The event reflects GCUF’s continued efforts to promote practical learning, innovation, technological awareness, and industry-academia collaboration among its students.

گورنمنٹ کالج یونیورسٹی فیصل آباد میں بلڈ ڈونیشن کیمپ، 100 سے زائد خون کے عطیات

گورنمنٹ کالج یونیورسٹی فیصل آباد کے بلڈ ڈونرز سوسائٹی (BDS) کے زیر اہتمام اور سندس فاؤنڈیشن کے تعاون سے ہیلتھ کیئر سنٹر، علی زیدی بلاک مین کیمپس میں بلڈ ڈونیشن کیمپ منعقد کیا گیا، جس میں طلبہ، اساتذہ، ملازمین اور یونیورسٹی کمیونٹی کے دیگر افراد نے بھرپور شرکت کی۔ کیمپ کے دوران 100 خون کے عطیات موصول ہوئے۔

اس موقع پر گورنمنٹ کالج یونیورسٹی فیصل آباد کے وائس چانسلر نے کہا کہ خون کا عطیہ ایک عظیم انسانی خدمت ہے۔ یونیورسٹی کے طلبہ اور ملازمین کی جانب سے اس نیک مقصد میں بھرپور شرکت قابلِ تحسین ہے۔ ایسے اقدامات معاشرے میں احساسِ ذمہ داری اور خدمتِ انسانیت کے جذبے کو فروغ دیتے ہیں۔

ڈائریکٹر سٹوڈنٹ افیئرز نے کہا کہ بلڈ ڈونیشن کیمپ میں یونیورسٹی کمیونٹی کا مثبت اور بھرپور ردعمل اس امر کا ثبوت ہے کہ ہمارے طلبہ اور ملازمین فلاحی اور انسانی خدمت کے کاموں میں بڑھ چڑھ کر حصہ لیتے ہیں۔ سندس فاؤنڈیشن کے تعاون اور تمام معاون شعبہ جات کا کردار قابلِ قدر ہے۔

انچارج GCUF بلڈ ڈونرز سوسائٹی ڈاکٹر امتیاز محمود طاہر نے کہا کہ آج 100 خون کے عطیات کا حصول انتہائی حوصلہ افزا ہے۔ ہر خون کا عطیہ کسی ضرورت مند مریض کے لیے زندگی کی امید بن سکتا ہے۔ میں تمام عطیہ دہندگان، معاون شعبہ جات، ہیلتھ کیئر سنٹر اور سندس فاؤنڈیشن کا دلی شکریہ ادا کرتا ہوں جن کے تعاون سے یہ کیمپ کامیاب ہوا۔

انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ بلڈ ڈونرز سوسائٹی آئندہ بھی رضاکارانہ خون کے عطیات کے فروغ اور ضرورت مند مریضوں کی مدد کے لیے اپنی خدمات جاری رکھے گی۔

One-Day Training Workshop on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) at GCUF

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), GCUF successfully organized a one-day training workshop on “Introduction to Outcome-Based Education (OBE) for Quality Assurance in Undergraduate Degree Programs Not Regulated by Accreditation Councils” on September 21, 2026, at STC Hall.

The three resource persons — Prof. Dr. Abdul Rauf Bhatti , Prof. Dr. Mariam Rehman and Dr-Sajid Akash delivered insightful and engaging presentations. The interactive Q&A and discussion session further enriched the learning experience.

The workshop concluded with valuable closing remarks by Prof. Dr. Asim Mansha , Director QEC, GCUF, highlighting the importance of OBE in strengthening quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Applied Chemistry Department Welcomes New Students

The Department of Applied Chemistry organized an orientation session for newly enrolled BS, MPhil and PhD students, warmly welcoming them to GCUF.

Faculty members briefed students on the enrollment process, examination system, university rules, discipline, career opportunities and sports activities for both male and female students.

Chairperson Prof. Dr. Shumaila Kiran highlighted the department’s history, academic achievements and research opportunities, while senior faculty shared insights into the successful placement of departmental alumni in industries across Pakistan. The students appreciated the department’s efforts to make their welcome informative and memorable.

GCUF Vice Chancellor Visits University of Sargodha, Discusses Regional Academic Collaboration

Vice Chancellor Government College University Faisalabad Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, visited the University of Sargodha and met with its newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat.

Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam congratulated Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat on his appointment as Vice Chancellor and conveyed his best wishes for a successful tenure.
During the meeting, the two Vice Chancellors discussed matters of mutual interest and explored avenues for strengthening academic and research collaboration between the two universities.

The Vice Chancellors also discussed the possibility of developing a broader collaborative framework involving public and private universities in the Faisalabad and Sargodha regions. The proposed initiative would provide a platform for universities in both regions to collaborate in research, innovation, academic exchange, capacity building and other areas of mutual interest.

At this occasion Muhammad Murtaza Noor National Coordinator Inter University Consortium, Prof Dr Nadeem Sheikh Vice Chancellor University of Mianwali and Dr Javed Iqbal Director HEC Regional Centre Lahore were also present.

Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-university linkages to promote quality education, research and innovation. GCUF Chiniot Campus Holds Seminar on Building Harassment-Free Campus

Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), Chiniot Campus, organized a seminar titled “Respect, Protect and Empower: Building a Harassment-Free Campus” to raise awareness about prevention of harassment and promote a safe, respectful and inclusive educational environment.
Vice Chancellor GCUF Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam and District Police Officer Chiniot Dr. Naveed Atif attended the seminar as chief guests.

Campus Director Dr. Falak Sher briefed the participants about academic and co-curricular activities at the campus and said that GCUF had zero tolerance for harassment. He stressed the importance of collective efforts to ensure a safe and conducive environment for students and staff.

Addressing the seminar, Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam said educational institutions had a vital role in shaping society in the right direction by producing competent, responsible and productive graduates. He said universities served as laboratories for building a model society and stressed the need to provide equal opportunities to men and women.

DPO Chiniot Dr. Naveed Atif said the police took harassment cases seriously and ensured strict implementation of the law. He said an Anti-Harassment Cell had been established at District Police Chiniot to facilitate the prevention and redressal of harassment-related issues faced by men and women.

On the occasion, Sub-Inspector Shumaila Shahzadi In-Charge of the Anti-Women Harassment and Violence gave students a detailed briefing on the mechanism for reporting harassment, available support and the role of the police in addressing such complaints.
