PLASTIC RECYCLING INDUSTRY SHOULD BE INCENTIVISED- Bharara
FAISALABAD. Environment Protection has emerged as one of the most critical issues after economy and defence and Government in collaboration with the private sector must play their pivotal role to save the environment on a sustained basis, said Mr. Rehan Naseem Bharara, President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI). Addressing a function on World Environment Day, he appreciated the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Madam Maryam Nawaz and Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and said that tangible results could be achieved to reduce and ultimately eliminate the excessive use of plastic in the province. The topic of the seminar was “Zero Plastic, Zero Pollution”. He lauded the environment related legislation and said that implementation on it is equally important to protect this only known living planet for coming generations. He said that in order to incentivise the public, the departmental stores should provide cloth bags to their customers free of cost. He said that FCCI is the first green chamber which is getting electricity from solarization while the business community has also played a key role in extensive plantations in the city. He said that transport is the major sector which was polluting the atmosphere while the share of industry is quite nominal. He expressed concern over the detection of traces of micro plastic in eatables due to the excessive use of plastic in our everyday life. He welcomed the ban on shoppers bags and some plastic items and said that the environment protection force should be motivated to take action against the elements violating these laws. He also stressed the need to promote the plastic recycling industry by providing incentives and concessions. Deputy Director EPA Mr. Usman Azhar, Mr. Waheed Khaliq Ramay, Dr. Habib Aslam Gaba and other intellectuals also addressed the function. Later Senior Vice President Mr. Qaisar Shams Gucha offered vote of thanks while President Mr. Rehan Naseem Bharara presented FCCI shield to Deputy Director EPA. An awareness walk was also staged while President Rehan Naseem Bharara, SVP Qaisar Shams Gucha, Deputy Director EPA Mr. Usman Azhar, Mr. Waheed Khaliq Ramay, Dr Habib Aslam Gaba, Dr. Farhana Nosheen, Madam Nusrat Zahra, Madam Salma Amber, other executive members and ladies planted saplings to mark the Environment Day.
