During his keynote address at the inaugural session of GB Harvest, a two-day event organised by the Agriculture, Livestock & Fisheries Department, Gilgit-Baltistan, on 16–17 October 2026 in Gilgit, the Honourable Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Amjad Hussain Advocate, acknowledged and appreciated ETI-GB’s significant contribution to supporting farmers across Gilgit-Baltistan in agricultural production, value addition, and the promotion of agribusinesses through various interventions, particularly the establishment and strengthening of Village Agriculture Cooperatives (VACs).

These interventions help farmers access better markets, secure better prices for their produce, and improve their livelihoods. VACs are also showcasing their products at GB Harvest, where their stalls are attracting considerable public interest. The exhibition allows cooperatives to promote locally produced goods, engage with potential customers, build partnerships, and explore new market opportunities.

Under ETI-GB, 162 Village Agriculture Cooperatives have been established across Gilgit-Baltistan, bringing 40,613 farmers onto a collective platform. The programme supports these cooperatives through initiatives such as the Partial Credit Guarantee Scheme (PCGS), Common Assets Financing, Office Management Support, capacity-building training, and agricultural extension services. These interventions aim to strengthen institutional capacities, improve business operations, expand market access, and create sustainable economic opportunities for farming communities. All VACs are legally registered with the Cooperative Department, Government of Gilgit-Baltistan, providing farmers with a formal platform for collective action, stronger agricultural value chains, and improved rural livelihoods.
