Before 1965 Pakistan-India War Syed was a JCO (Junior Commissioned Officer) Subedar rank. Both countries were deploying troops on borders. Syed was not selected for War Soldiers and

part of the rear party because he was near to retirement from his service. But at the time of troops departure, another JCO Subedar injured in an accident, and his leg fractured. Regiment CO (Commanding Officer) asked soldiers for voluntary replacement of injured JCO. Syed stepped up from the row and voluntarily offered himself as an enthusiastic war soldier. When his regiment deployed at Wahga border Lahore, he again offered himself as OP at observer post. During cross-border firing from Indian soldiers and their abusive language against motherland Pakistan Syed jumped out from his position and attacked on Indians with full fire and embraced martyrdom.
