๐ตChanges to Location Targeting on Meta & how it is going to impact your ROAS?
Before, we had a few options to choose from when picking a location. The default choice was "People living or recently in this location." This meant our ads could reach people who live there or were just visiting.
But now, things are different. There's only one option left "People living or recently in this location." The other choices are gone. This means our ads will always include both groups.
You might wonder, why does this matter? Well, let's think about a few situations where this change could make a difference:
- When We Can Only Serve a Specific Place: If we can only do business in one area, like shipping or local laws, we might spend money on people who can't use our services.
- Local Stuff: If our ads are meant for people who live here, like local services or events, we might end up showing them to people who are just passing through. That might not help us much.
- Tourists and Special Services: If we're all about tourists or things only locals need, like certain services, this change might make our ads less accurate.
Why did Meta do this? We don't know for sure, but here are some ideas:
- Not Many People Used It: Meta often removes things few people use. This could be one of those cases.
- Keeping Things Private: People care about their privacy. This change might be because Meta wants to be careful about how we target ads based on where someone is right now.
- Making Ads Smarter: Meta is really smart. They might be able to figure out who to show our ads to, even without us saying exactly where.
So, while this change might seem tricky, let's remember that challenges can bring new opportunities. We'll figure out how to make the best of it and keep our ads awesome!
