𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶, 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 – The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) of Pakistan has launched the National CISO Consortium, a premier national cybersecurity collaboration initiative designed to bring together the country’s leading Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and senior cybersecurity leaders on a trusted and structured platform.

The Consortium provides a unique opportunity for Pakistan’s cybersecurity leadership to connect, collaborate, and contribute to the national cyber mission. By bringing together the collective wisdom, experience, and expertise of the country’s senior cybersecurity community, the National CISO Consortium seeks to transform industry knowledge and experience into meaningful national impact.

Through structured engagement, members of the National CISO Consortium will have the opportunity to make strategic contributions to national cybersecurity policies, security frameworks, capability development, capacity building, and initiatives aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s overall cyber resilience. The Consortium will also facilitate the exchange of critical insights, professional experiences, and emerging threat intelligence, enabling members to collectively address shared cybersecurity challenges and contribute their expertise towards advancing Pakistan’s national cyber mission.

Addressing prominent CISOs and cybersecurity leaders from across the nation, DG National CERT, Dr. Haider Abbas, TI, underscored the importance of transitioning from siloed organizational strategies toward a unified national cybersecurity ecosystem. He emphasized leveraging the collective expertise of Pakistan’s cybersecurity leadership to define national priorities, fortify collective defense capabilities, and build practical solutions for emerging cyber threats.

The launch of the National CISO Consortium marks a significant milestone towards institutionalizing senior-level cybersecurity collaboration and aligning industry expertise with national cybersecurity objectives, highlighting National CERT’s commitment to building a more coordinated, capable, and resilient digital Pakistan.

𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱, 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 – The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) conducted an interactive training session on “Disaster Recovery & Operations Continuity” for participants of its Summer Internship Program 2026, strengthening their understanding of organizational resilience, business continuity, and effective recovery in the face of cyber incidents and operational disruptions.

The session, delivered by Mr. Ikram Ul Haq Syed, CEO, Centric Consulting, provided interns with practical insights into the importance of preparing organizations to withstand, respond to, and recover from disruptive events. The training focused on five key areas: Understanding the Threat Landscape, identifying emerging risks and potential disruptions; Detecting & Analyzing Cyber Threats, recognizing indicators that may affect critical operations; Responding to Security Incidents Effectively, emphasizing structured response and decision-making; Exploring Security Operations in the Real World, connecting cybersecurity concepts with practical organizational environments; and Building a Security Mindset for the Future, fostering resilience, preparedness, and continuous learning.

The session highlighted that effective cybersecurity extends beyond preventing incidents. It also requires organizations to maintain critical operations, minimize disruption, recover efficiently, and continuously strengthen their resilience against evolving threats.

The engagement reflects National CERT’s commitment to bridging young cybersecurity talent with experienced industry practitioners, equipping interns with practical knowledge and a deeper understanding of real-world cybersecurity and operational resilience. The interns participated with keen interest and actively engaged with the trainer throughout the session.

𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱, 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 – The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) of Pakistan, in collaboration with its international technology partner, MA3 Cyber, conducted an interactive training session for participants of its Summer Internship Program 2026, providing them with practical insights into securing modern applications.

The session was delivered by Mr. Anwar Hassan, Managing Director, MA3 Cyber, and supported by Mr. Abdul Hakim Ansari from Checkmarx. The session focused on key dimensions of Application Security. The interns explored the evolving application security landscape, common application vulnerabilities, secure coding and development practices, vulnerability detection and remediation, and the importance of building a security-first mindset for modern applications.

The session enabled interns to deepen their understanding of how security can be integrated throughout the application development lifecycle, while gaining valuable perspectives from an experienced industry practitioner.

The engagement reflects National CERT’s commitment to connecting emerging cybersecurity talent with industry expertise and equipping young professionals with the knowledge and skills required to contribute to a secure and resilient digital ecosystem.

𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱, 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 ¬– The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) of Pakistan delivered three dedicated training sessions as part of the 5-Day Training on “Cyber Security and Data Protection in Digital Governance”, organized by the Akhtar Hameed Khan National Centre for Rural Development (AHKNCRD). The sessions focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of cybersecurity, data protection, and the human and institutional dimensions of digital governance. The training brought together government employees, members of academia, and industry professionals from different cities across Pakistan.

The session on “Government of Pakistan’s Policies & Initiatives for Cyber Security & Data Protection in the Country” was delivered by Dr. Mehreen Afzal, Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), providing participants with insights into Pakistan’s evolving cybersecurity and data protection landscape, along with key government policies and initiatives.

Mr. Syed Imran Haider, Assistant Director Trainings, National CERT, delivered two sessions covering “Cyber Security Awareness and Human Factors” and “International Cooperation and Collaborations for Cyber Security and Data Protection.” The sessions highlighted the critical role of human behaviour in cybersecurity and the importance of international collaboration in addressing increasingly complex and cross-border cyber threats.

Through such capacity-building initiatives, National CERT continues to contribute to strengthening cybersecurity awareness, institutional preparedness, and data protection capabilities across Pakistan’s public sector. These efforts support a more secure, resilient, and trusted digital governance ecosystem.

𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 (𝗣𝗜𝗦𝗙 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲)

𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱, 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 – The Federal Cabinet has approved the Pakistan Information Security Framework 2026 (PISF 2026), developed by the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) of Pakistan, with the support of the Ministry Of IT & Telecom, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Pakistan’s national cybersecurity governance. Globally aligned and locally tailored, the Framework establishes a national baseline of 234 essential security controls for federal and provincial ministries, divisions and departments, autonomous bodies, public sector corporations, CERTs, and designated Critical Information Infrastructures (CIIs).

PISF 2026 provides a unified, scalable and risk-based approach to securing government information assets, digital services and critical systems. It strengthens institutional coordination, trust and oversight while enabling consistent security maturity measurement across the public sector. By establishing a common national baseline, the Framework will help reduce fragmentation arising from multiple unaligned approaches and reinforce a more resilient, coordinated and secure digital ecosystem for Pakistan.

The session provided interns with valuable insights into contemporary approaches to identifying, investigating, responding to and recovering from cyber incidents.

The engagement reflects National CERT’s commitment to bridging young cybersecurity talent with industry, enabling interns to learn directly from experienced practitioners and gain a deeper understanding of professional cybersecurity environments. The interns participated with keen interest and actively engaged with the trainer throughout the session, demonstrating their enthusiasm to strengthen their technical knowledge and practical understanding of incident response and digital forensics.

Through its Internship Program, National CERT continues to foster meaningful connections between emerging cyber professionals and the industry, contributing to the development of a skilled and future-ready cybersecurity workforce in Pakistan. 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗱, 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 – The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) conducted an interactive training session in collaboration with its Technology Partner, OT Associates for the participants of its Summer Internship Program 2026, strengthening their exposure to industry perspectives and real-world cybersecurity practices.

The session on “OT Security,” delivered by Mr. Muhammad Qasim Cheema, CEO, OT Associates, highlighted five core principles: Safety & Uptime First, prioritizing operational safety over secrecy; Master the OT Loop, understanding the sense-decide-act cycle across sectors; Separate IT & OT, using segmentation to prevent cyber incidents from causing physical harm; Secure the Basics, addressing exposure, weak passwords, flat networks, and poor monitoring; and Build OT Resilience, through asset visibility, segmentation, monitoring, and recovery, aligned with ISA/IEC 62443. The session gave interns practical insights into securing critical OT systems and infrastructure, emphasizing that in OT, a breach can compromise not only data, but physical reality.

It also offered practical exposure to security operations in real-world environments and the operational practices involved in strengthening an organization’s cybersecurity posture, while encouraging interns to develop a proactive security mindset for the future.
