Mr. Imran Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of Engro Fertilizers, along with his delegation, visited the National Emergencies Operations Center (NEOC).

The delegation was briefed on Pakistan’s evolving water-security situation and the growing implications of water scarcity for agricultural productivity and national food security amid climate change and rapid population growth. NDMA also presented its proposed Monsoon and Glacial Basin concepts as potential pathways for improving water management and strengthening the resilience of the country’s food systems.

The delegation was apprised of NEOC’s advanced technologies and integrated platforms for multi-hazard monitoring, weather forecasting, and the timely dissemination of early warnings and advisories. The briefing also highlighted NDMA’s proactive disaster risk-management framework and its role in coordinating preparedness and emergency response nationwide.

Mr. Imran Ahmed appreciated NDMA’s forward-looking approach to addressing the interconnected challenges of water scarcity, food security, climate change, and disaster risk. He offered Engro Fertilizers’ full support for initiatives contributing to Pakistan’s climate and disaster resilience.

The two sides also discussed proposed mock drills at Engro Fertilizers’ plants to test response protocols, strengthen on-ground emergency preparedness, and enhance coordination among the company, local authorities, and NDMA during emergencies.

Participants of the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 (𝗧𝗼𝗧) 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗗𝗥𝗠) 𝗕𝗮𝗱𝗴𝗲, organized jointly by the NDMA, Unicef and 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, visited the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗡𝗗𝗠𝗔).

The training aims to develop a 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 capable of equipping young Scouts with essential knowledge and skills in 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲. Through the newly introduced 𝗗𝗥𝗠 𝗕𝗮𝗱𝗴𝗲, disaster preparedness will be formally integrated into Scouting education across Pakistan.

During the visit, participants were briefed on 𝗡𝗗𝗠𝗔’𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗵𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆-𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 and the role of the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 (𝗡𝗘𝗢𝗖) in real-time hazard monitoring and coordinated disaster response. They also learned about NDMA’s community-based disaster risk management initiatives and the important role of young people in strengthening preparedness and resilience at the grassroots level.

The Scout Leaders appreciated NDMA’s efforts to promote a 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 and reaffirmed Scouting’s vital role in building 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 by empowering young people with life-saving knowledge and practical skills.

⚠️ مون سون الرٹ | گلیشیائی جھیلوں کے پھٹنے، سیلاب اور لینڈ سلائیڈنگ کا خدشہ

نیشنل ڈیزاسٹر مینجمنٹ اتھارٹی (NDMA) کے نیشنل ایمرجنسیز آپریشن سینٹر (NEOC) نے 17 تا 23 اگست گلگت بلتستان، خیبر پختونخوا اور آزاد کشمیر کے حساس پہاڑی علاقوں میں گلیشیائی جھیلوں کے پھٹنے (GLOF)، اچانک سیلاب، ملبے کے بہاؤ اور لینڈ سلائیڈنگ کے ممکنہ خطرات کے پیش نظر الرٹ جاری کر دیا ہے۔

مون سون بارشوں، بڑھتے ہوئے درجہ حرارت اور گلیشیئرز و برف پگھلنے کے باعث پہاڑی علاقوں میں اچانک سیلاب اور برساتی ندی نالوں میں طغیانی کا خطرہ بڑھ سکتا ہے۔

📍 خصوصی طور پر حساس علاقے

گلگت بلتستان، خیبر پختونخوا اور آزاد کشمیر کے متعدد پہاڑی علاقے، وادیاں، ندی نالے اور اہم شاہراہیں لینڈ سلائیڈنگ، پتھر گرنے اور اچانک سیلاب کے خطرے سے متاثر ہو سکتی ہیں۔

22 تا 24 اگست گلگت بلتستان کے حساس پہاڑی علاقوں میں لینڈ سلائیڈنگ اور پتھر گرنے کا بھی خدشہ ہے، جس سے سڑکوں کی بندش، آمدورفت میں خلل اور آبادیوں کا رابطہ منقطع ہونے کا خطرہ موجود ہے۔

🌊 دریاؤں میں پانی کے بہاؤ میں اضافہ

مون سون بارشوں کے باعث تمام بڑے دریاؤں میں پانی کے بہاؤ میں اضافے کا امکان ہے، جبکہ بعض مقامات پر کم سے درمیانے درجے کے بہاؤ کی صورتحال متوقع ہے۔

🛑 عوام کے لیے اہم احتیاطی تدابیر

• گلیشیئرز، گلیشیائی جھیلوں، دریاؤں، ندی نالوں اور خطرناک پہاڑی ڈھلوانوں کے قریب غیر ضروری نقل و حرکت سے گریز کریں۔
• سیلابی پانی یا تیز بہاؤ کو پیدل یا گاڑی کے ذریعے ہرگز عبور نہ کریں۔
• شدید بارش یا خطرے کی وارننگ کی صورت میں غیر ضروری سفر سے گریز کریں۔
• سفر سے پہلے موسم اور سڑکوں کی تازہ ترین صورتحال معلوم کریں۔
• بند یا خطرناک قرار دی گئی سڑکوں پر سفر نہ کریں۔
• پہاڑی علاقوں میں سیاحتی سرگرمیوں کے دوران برساتی ندی نالوں سے محفوظ فاصلہ رکھیں۔
• سفر کے دوران پانی، خشک خوراک، ٹارچ، فرسٹ ایڈ کٹ اور پاور بینک ساتھ رکھیں۔
• کسی بھی غیر معمولی پانی کے بہاؤ یا سطح میں اچانک اضافے کی فوری اطلاع متعلقہ اداروں کو دیں۔

Launch of National Standardized DRR Manual for Volunteers and Boy Scouts

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), in collaboration with Prime Minister Youth Program (PMYP) and UNICEF, launched the National Standardized Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Manual for Volunteers and the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Badge for Pakistan Boy Scouts Association. The launch event was graced by Chairman PMYP Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan and Chairman NDMA Lt. General Inaam Haider Malik (SI), marking an important step towards equipping young volunteers with standardized knowledge and skills for disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness.

The event brought together representatives from the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, NDRMF, HEC, Pakistan Boy Scouts Association, Pakistan Girl Guides Association and youth representatives to advance a shared vision of empowering young people as agents of disaster preparedness, risk reduction and resilience.
The launch was also followed by a technical panel discussion on “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations”, highlighting the importance of equipping adolescents and youth with the knowledge, skills and leadership needed to take meaningful action before, during and after disasters.

این ڈی ایم اے کے نیشنل ایمرجنسیز آپریشن سینٹر (NEOC) نے 13 تا 15 اگست ممکنہ سیلاب اور لینڈ سلائیڈنگ کے حوالے سے پیشگی الرٹ جاری کر دیا۔

ممکنہ خطرات:

* پہاڑی و برساتی ندی نالوں میں اچانک طغیانی اور فلیش فلڈ
* پنجاب، خیبر پختونخوا، آزاد کشمیر، گلگت بلتستان اور شمال مشرقی بلوچستان کے حساس علاقوں میں سیلاب کا خدشہ
* گلگت بلتستان میں لینڈ سلائیڈنگ کا خطرہ
* بعض شہری علاقوں میں اربن فلڈنگ کا امکان

عوام کے لیے اہم ہدایات:
سیلابی نالوں، دریاؤں، زیرِ آب سڑکوں اور تیز بہاؤ والے پانی کو عبور کرنے سے گریز کریں۔ لینڈ سلائیڈنگ کے خطرے سے دوچار علاقوں میں غیر ضروری سفر نہ کریں اور موسم و سڑکوں کی تازہ صورتحال سے باخبر رہیں۔

Urban Flooding — Stay Alert, Stay Safe 🌧️⚠️

Urban flooding can occur when intense rainfall overwhelms drainage systems, causing water to accumulate rapidly on roads, streets, underpasses and low-lying areas.

Protect Yourself:

Avoid walking or driving through flooded roads.
Stay away from underpasses, drains and fast-moving water.
Keep children away from floodwater.
Move valuables and electrical appliances to higher places.
Switch off electricity if water enters your home.
Follow official weather and emergency advisories.
In an emergency, move to a safe and elevated location.

For the Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing Community:

Keep your mobile phone charged and enable visual emergency alerts, SMS and vibration notifications.
Follow official emergency updates through text-based channels and social media.
Keep a written list of emergency contacts and important information.
Ensure family members, neighbours or caregivers know how to communicate with you during an emergency.
Do not rely only on sirens or audible warnings—seek visual and text-based alerts.
If evacuation is advised, move promptly to a safe and elevated location.

Remember: Never underestimate floodwater. Stay informed, stay prepared and look out for one another.

وزیراعظم کی ہدایت پر نیشنل ڈیزاسٹر مینجمنٹ اتھارٹی میں ایمرجنسی رسپانس کمیٹی کا 13واں اجلاس منعقد

ملک بھر میں مون سون کی صورتحال، دریاؤں میں پانی کے بہا وٗاور ڈیموں کی صورتحال سمیت موسمی پیش گوئی، تیاریوں اور مربوط رسپانس کا جائزہ لیا گیا۔

وفاقی وزیر برائے منصوبہ بندی، ترقی و خصوصی اقدامات پروفیسر احسن اقبال نے ویڈیو لنک کے ذریعے اجلاس کی صدارت کی۔

اجلاس میں وفاقی وزراء اور چیئرمین این ڈی ایم اے سمیت پی ڈی ایم اے، محکمہ موسمیات اور متعلقہ وفاقی اداروں کے نمائندوں نے شرکت کی۔

صوبائی حکام نے ریسکیو وسائل، ہنگامی ذخائر، انخلا کے منصوبوں، ضلعی انتظامیہ سے رابطوں اور متاثرہ اضلاع میں تیاریوں کے حوالے سے آگاہ کیا۔

اجلاس میں بروقت وارننگز کے اجراء، امدادی وسائل کی پیشگی دستیابی، مواصلاتی نظام کو بلا تعطل فعال رکھنے اور تمام رسپانس اداروں کی مکمل تیاری یقینی بنانے پر زور دیا گیا۔

وفاقی وزیر احسن اقبا ل نے ہدایت کی کہ تمام متعلقہ ادارے باہمی رابطہ مزید مؤثر بنائیں اور پیشگی حفاظتی او ررسپانس اقدامات پر فوری عملدرآمد یقینی بنائیں۔

NDMA Conducts NEOC Strategic Appraisal for High-level Diplomatic Missions

A high-level multi-country diplomatic delegation comprising representatives from Tajikistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Oman, Spain, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jordan, Indonesia, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Thailand, Canada and Uzbekistan visited the National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC) at Headquarters NDMA, Islamabad. The delegation included Heads of Mission and senior diplomats accredited to Pakistan. Simultaneously, more than 34 Pakistani Ambassadors and Heads of Mission serving in various countries participated in the session through a Zoom link.

Team NDMA comprehensively presented NEOC capability exposition, along with Pakistan's innovative transformation of Proactive Disasters Management response systems to reduce recurring disaster risks. Chairman NDMA Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik introduced various measures advanced by NDMA for regional integration and global DRR reset approach. The delegation was shown Pak NDMA's excellence standards achieved in recent times, and plans of securing next stage of Next Generation Technologies, to create greater authentic Disaster Early Warnings (DEW) and choreographed synergetic actions by responders and resource providers.

During the session, "Disaster Lens 2026" was demonstrated for Pakistan and the global community, and vigorous sequences of Comprehensive International Simulation Exercises (CISE) were shown to the delegates.

The session was also attended by a representative of the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) at the NEOC, while representatives of OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the Commonwealth and COMSATS participated virtually.

Both sides underscored the importance of strengthening institutional linkages and promoting cooperation to address emerging risks associated with climate change and complex disasters.
