Nust Save Water Campaign

Nust Save Water Campaign We are a group of final year Seecs students who have launched a service to preserve water in NUST hostels as part of our Community Service Program.

First it was just grim reports from media outlets of an upcoming scarcity of the thing we took as granted, water. Now as we head forward in the global climate change we feel its ripples effect our daily lives. As the accessibility of freshwater is depleting, water conservation and saving initiatives are increasing to save water for future generations. As world leaders push to conserve or even prof

it from this scarcity of water, we students feel it as a moral obligation to help in this impending chaos. We have launched a campaign to create awareness and gather as many participants to stop this rate of water depletion. We have taken steps to conserve and protect the little water we have, now we want the world to also acknowledge and help us. This is the only way we can delay the inevitable water crisis. Apart from that, it is also very important for other forms of life on earth like plants, animals, and birds. The quantity of fresh water is only limited to groundwater, rivers, and lakes. Hence, it becomes our duty to safeguard what remains of this precious resource for our future. Also, we require action plans to keep a check on the water pollution that is making it unfit for use. Currently, there are many regions in the world that are facing extreme water scarcity due to decline of groundwater and scanty rainfalls. Also, in some areas, the groundwater is contaminated or it has been overused. Thus, these factors have to lead to drought situations and in these areas it has lead to water scarcity. Furthermore, urbanization and industrialization have added to the problems where groundwater has been overused to fulfill the increasing demands of the population. There are many ways in which we can save water and minimize their pollution. Besides, these methods include proper treatment of industrial water before dumping them into rivers. Also, using only the required amount of water and avoiding wastage. Apart from that, we can make people aware about water problem by means of social campaigns and other ways. We hope our campaign to preserve water helps in the water crisis and also will lead you to join our cause.

97.5% of the world’s water is locked in seas and oceans, too salty for human use. And most of the remaining 2.5% is in the ice caps.

So we humans depend on the tiny bit available as fresh water – an essential natural resource for life.

But we don't just use water for drinking. We wash in it, clean with it, and use it to produce everything from clothing to food. Crop production – including feed for livestock and biofuels – is putting a great strain on fresh water supplies.

Lack of water is a big issue in many countries. It is a symbiotic factor and important element to which life depends on.
