Syed Junaid Akhlaq, Senior Joint Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, assumed the charge as Director General, Pakistan Institute of Education (PIE).
A briefing and introductory session was held on 18 August 2026 in the Committee Room of PIE to welcome the newly appointed DG. Dr. Muhammad Zaigham Qadeer, Head of Department, warmly welcomed Mr. Syed Junaid Akhlaq and introduced the officers of PIE.
During the session, officers briefed the DG on the ongoing tasks, key programmes, institutional activities, progress, and achievements of their respective wings/departments. The officers also presented the future goals, strategic priorities, and objectives of PIE, focusing on strengthening education data, research, assessment, policy support, coordination, and institutional development.
The session provided an opportunity to discuss ongoing initiatives, challenges, and future plans for further enhancing the effectiveness and role of PIE as a national institution in the education sector.
The newly appointed DG appreciated the efforts of the officers and emphasized teamwork, effective coordination, professionalism, timely completion of assignments, and result-oriented performance to achieve the goals and objectives of PIE.
