Islamabad, July 25, 2026: The Ministry of Industries and Production has strongly refuted a news report published in the Daily Jang on July 23, which incorrectly linked the alleged delay in Pakistan’s Auto Policy with the National Tariff Policy. The statement attributed to the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, is entirely false, misleading, and contrary to the facts.
Haroon Akhtar Khan clarified that the Auto Policy is currently under preparation and is being formulated in alignment with the National Tariff Policy to establish a comprehensive, forward-looking, and sustainable policy framework for the development of Pakistan’s automotive industry.
The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Haroon Akhtar Khan, further clarified that the National Tariff Policy has no connection whatsoever with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Haroon Akhtar Khan reaffirmed that, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the Government remains fully committed to accelerating economic growth, promoting local manufacturing, making industries more stable and competitive, reducing the cost of production, enhancing industrial competitiveness, and creating greater ease of doing business across the country.
