Federal Directorate of Immunization (FDI) in collaboration with the District Health Office Islamabad & Directorate of Health Services, CDA Islamabad with the support of UNICEF Pakistan, organized an appreciation ceremony today at Capital Hospital, CDA Islamabad, to honor the dedicated volunteers of the Islamabad Region for their outstanding contributions during the 2025 HPV and Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign.

The Chief Guest of the Ceremony, Dr. Musa Khan, Director General, Federal Directorate of Immunization has lauded the invaluable contribution of youth volunteers in advancing The Expanded Programme on Immunization - Pakistan describing them as a vital link between communities and the health system in promoting vaccine confidence and improving immunization uptake.

Dr. Musa Khan acknowledged the dedicated services of volunteers from SYNCH and Youth General Assembly (YGA) for their support during the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine Introduction Campaign and the Measles-Rubella (MR) Campaign 2025 in Islamabad.

Addressing the participants, the Director General emphasized the importance of community engagement in achieving national immunization goals.

“Volunteers serve as the bridge between caregivers and health service providers. Their commitment to community engagement is instrumental in generating demand for immunization, addressing misinformation, and strengthening public confidence in vaccines. Their contribution is critical to ensuring that every eligible child and adolescent is protected against vaccine-preventable diseases,” said Dr. Musa Khan.

The Director General appreciated the volunteers for their commitment to supporting immunization activities through community mobilization, interpersonal communication, caregiver engagement, social media advocacy, and public awareness initiatives.
Recognizing their volunteer services, Dr. Musa Khan presented certificates of appreciation to the volunteers in acknowledgment of their dedication and contributions to public health.

The ceremony was attended by District health office ,Islamabad with the support of UNICEF. District health officer, Islamabad Dr Syeda Rashida Batool,Dr. Irshad Jokhio, Director General Health Services, CDA/MCI; Dr. Shoukat Ali, Health Specialist (Immunization), UNICEF; representatives from partner organization were also present during the ceremony.

Routine immunisation protects children from 13 life-threatening diseases, including polio, measles, diphtheria, and tetanus.

Make sure every child from birth to 18 months receives all their vaccinations on time according to the routine immunisation schedule.

Dr. Musa Khan, Director General, Federal Directorate of Immunization chaired a high-level Provincial Consultation Meeting on The Expanded Programme on Immunization - Pakistan VPOP and CashPOP with representatives from all Provincial Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) teams, alongside partners including the World Health Organization- Pakistan, UNICEF Pakistan, Gates Foundation, Delivery Associates, ACASUS and other key stakeholders.

The meeting focused on advancing the Vaccine Portfolio Optimization and Prioritization (VPOP) and Cash Portfolio Optimization and Prioritization (CashPOP) processes through extensive consultations with provincial stakeholders. Discussions centered on provincial priorities, implementation considerations, resource optimization, operational feasibility, and aligning recommendations to support evidence-based decision-making for Pakistan's immunization programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Musa Khan emphasized that meaningful provincial engagement is fundamental to the success of the VPOP and CashPOP processes. He noted that incorporating provincial perspectives and leveraging the expertise of development partners will help ensure that future immunization investments are strategic, sustainable, and responsive to the country's public health needs.

The consultation reaffirmed the collective commitment of the Federal Directorate of Immunization, Provincial EPIs, and development partners to work together in finalizing the VPOP and CashPOP processes and strengthening Pakistan's immunization programme through coordinated planning and efficient use of resources.

The Expanded Programme on Immunization - Pakistan in collaboration with partner organizations World Health Organization- Pakistan, UNICEF Pakistan, Gates Foundation etc convened a follow-up meeting today under the chair of Dr. Musa Khan, Director General, FDI, to finalize the way forward for the implementation of the Vaccine Portfolio Optimization and Prioritization (VPOP) and Cash Portfolio Optimization and Prioritization (CashPOP) processes.

The meeting focused on finalizing key implementation arrangements, including the proposed timeline, knowledge management and coordination mechanisms, stakeholder engagement approach, and other operational modalities to ensure a structured and effective implementation process. Participants also agreed on the next steps and responsibilities to facilitate close collaboration among all stakeholders.

Dr. Musa Khan emphasized that a well-coordinated implementation framework, supported by strong knowledge management and continuous stakeholder engagement, will be critical to the success of the planning initiatives. He reiterated FDI's commitment to fostering evidence-informed decision-making, strengthening programme efficiency, and ensuring the optimal use of resources to sustain and enhance Pakistan's immunization programme.

During the meeting, Delivery Associates was formally introduced as the selected consulting firm that will support Pakistan in implementing the VPOP and CashPOP processes. Discussions focused on the scope of work, implementation approach, key milestones, and the roadmap for moving forward in close collaboration with national and provincial stakeholders.

☀️ Advancing Sustainable Immunization Services through Health Facilities Solar Electrification

The Federal Directorate of Immunization in collaboration with UNICEF Pakistan today convened the 8th Meeting of the Technical Working Committee/Project Management Team (TWC/PMT) on Health Facilities Solar Electrification (HFSE) at the FDI Conference Room, Islamabad.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Musa Khan, Director General, FDI, who emphasized the importance of sustained coordination, timely implementation, and continued collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure the successful ex*****on of the initiative. Senior representatives from Federal and Provincial EPI teams and UNICEF Pakistan participated in the meeting to review overall progress, discuss implementation updates, address emerging priorities, and strengthen collective efforts for the way forward.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Federal Directorate of Immunization and UNICEF Pakistan to strengthening resilient and sustainable immunization services through enhanced coordination and strategic planning, ensuring reliable vaccine delivery and uninterrupted access to life-saving immunization services for every child.
