In Pakistan’s northern valleys, climate change is not a distant threat. It is reshaping lives already living at the edge of vulnerability.

But across Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, women are also finding new ways to adapt, rebuild, and lead. From honeybee farming and kitchen gardening to wool processing and oil extraction, their stories are about resilience, livelihoods, and the quiet strength turning climate risk into opportunity.

⚖️ After five years of advancing people-centred justice in Pakistan, the 🇪🇺 European Union in Pakistan-funded Project concluded today in Islamabad.

The event brought together H.E. Mr. Raimundas Karoblis, Ambassador of the European Union in Pakistan, Honourable Justice Shahid Waheed, Judge, Supreme Court of Pakistan, Van Nguyen, Officer in Charge, , Mr. Troels Vester, Country Representative, UNODC Country Office Pakistan, and Mr. Jamshed M. Kazi, Country Representative, UN Women Pakistan alongside justice sector stakeholders, civil society, and communities to reflect on the project’s impact and the shared commitment to justice for all.

Jointly implemented by , , and , the project supported communities and institutions across KP, Balochistan, and Islamabad to help make justice more accessible and inclusive.

The conversation will reflect on lessons learned, progress made, and the path ahead for delivering justice for all.

🛡️ Trained over 4,000 justice and security personnel so they can better protect and serve the people of KP and Balochistan
📖 Raised legal awareness among 11,585 people, including 7,188 women, so they better understand and claim their rights

As the project comes to a close, we celebrate the milestones that bring justice closer to the people.

As monsoon season returns, climate risks remain a growing reality for vulnerable mountain communities in Pakistan.

The GLOF-II project, jointly implemented by the Ministry of Climate Change, Govt of Pakistan and , worked alongside communities across Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to help reduce the risks posed by Glacial Lake Outburst Floods.

🚨 284 early warning systems installed and handed over to PMD
🛡️ 411 flood protection structures covering 39,615 metres
💧 317 irrigation channels spanning 126,246 metres
🤝 732,000 people directly supported, including 358,000 women

Building a requires collaboration, innovation and collective action. ♻️

Through National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) Pakistan, stakeholders across government, private sector, academia, civil society, communities and informal waste sector came together to advance coordinated action on plastic pollution through evidence-based insights, capacity building, awareness raising and support for local innovations.

With support from the Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP) and as the NPAP Secretariat, these efforts have helped lay the foundation for more coordinated and inclusive action towards plastic circularity in Pakistan.

🏛️ Governance is only as strong as the voices that shape it.

Supported by European Union in Pakistan, 's PLEDGE project is advancing a Gender-Responsive Legislative Agenda through dialogue with key stakeholders across Pakistan.

Following consultations in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the dialogue continued in Quetta and concluded with a national event in Islamabad.

The Women's Parliamentary Caucus, the Balochistan Provincial Assembly, the Election Commission of Pakistan, oversight bodies, commissions, civil society, academia, and media came together to bridge policy gaps through legal reforms, with a focus on gender, inclusion, and technology — and to develop actionable recommendations for parliamentary reform.

Because inclusive laws require inclusive processes.
