Quaid Public Library now has a cute little Kids Corner set up by our Library in-charge with the help of our wonderful community members who came together to help the revival of libraries! We hosted a visit by the Kindergarten branch of City School 1-8/2 whose staff donated books, furniture and decor items for the kids corner.
The kids were given a round of the library. They helped the teachers stack their book donations in the cupboard followed by a storytelling session by The Library Project volunteers. This was followed by kids and their mums telling their own stories. The little reading enthusiasts were given bookmarks and stationery from the TLP as a memento of their visit.
We look forward to hosting regular school visits, storytelling sessions for the public and other fun and learning activities at the QPL kids corner.
Special thanks to
- Headmistress Mahlaqa of City School KG Branch I-8 that took up this initiative and who along with her efficient staff decorated the space and donated books and furniture to the library kids corner
- Team Kuch Khaas for their invaluable support in setting up the space for the event and photography
- Aisha Idris and Mahnur Malik our awesome storytellers that ignited the kids’ imaginations
We now look forward to the community contributing to this and other public libraries by helping to host events, offering donations of good quality books and decor items, and bringing their families regularly to libraries.
