🐒 Monkey Rescue Operation in Barakahu

Following multiple complaints regarding monkeys in Barakahu, the IWMB team successfully captured the monkey using a safe cage-trap and ensured its safe handling.

Citizens are requested not to feed monkeys and to strictly follow wildlife safety SOPs. Avoid approaching, chasing, or attempting to handle monkeys, and report wildlife-related concerns to the IWMB team.

Wildlife Monitoring in Gulberg Greens

Following reports of a possible tiger or leopard sighting in Gulberg Greens, the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) team visited the area and conducted a thorough search. No signs or evidence confirming the presence of a large cat were found.

The operation was carried out in coordination with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Assistant Commissioner (AC) of the District Administration.

IWMB will remain vigilant and continue monitoring the area. Citizens are requested to remain calm and immediately report any credible wildlife sighting to the relevant authorities.

Indian Flapshell Turtle Rescued & Released

The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) team safely rescued an Indian Flapshell Turtle after receiving information from a concerned citizen.

Following assessment, the turtle was successfully released back into its natural habitat.

IWMB appreciates the citizen’s timely reporting and encourages everyone to help protect wildlife by reporting injured, stranded, or displaced animals to the relevant wildlife authorities.

Water Streams Update – Safety Advisory

Due to heavy rainfall, water levels and flow in the streams of Margalla Hills can rise suddenly and become extremely dangerous.

All hikers and visitors are requested to avoid hiking during heavy rain and do not enter or walk along water streams.

Please prioritize your safety and avoid taking unnecessary risks. Flash floods and strong currents can occur without warning.

Stay safe. Stay away from streams during heavy rainfall.

Monkey Successfully Rescued by IWMB

The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) rescue team safely rescued a monkey following a report from a concerned citizen in an urban area of Islamabad.

Citizens are encouraged to report sightings of monkeys in urban areas to IWMB so trained wildlife staff can respond safely and ensure appropriate care and management.

Please do not feed monkeys. Feeding wildlife can change their natural behaviour, create dependence on human food, and increase the risk of human-wildlife conflict.

Keep Wildlife Wild — Do Not Feed Wildlife.

After a health check and care at the Rescue Centre, our rescued pangolin is now fit and ready to return to its natural habitat in the Margalla Hills National Park.

Trail Safety Advisory | Stay Safe in the Margalla Hills

Five visitors who went missing on the trail were successfully rescued through a joint operation by IWMB, CDA and Islamabad Police.

For your safety, please follow these precautions:

* Stay on designated and familiar trails.
* Do not enter or remain on trails after sunset.
* Keep your group together and avoid exploring unfamiliar routes.
* Keep your phone charged and share your location with someone.
* Take guidance from the security guard at the trail entrance before starting your hike.
* Wear appropriate footwear and carry sufficient water.
* Do not venture into unmarked or isolated areas.

Your safety comes first. Explore responsibly and respect the Margalla Hills.
