​As the leading bear research team in Pakistan, the Wildlife Ecology Lab is dedicated to ensuring the long-term survival of the iconic Asiatic Black Bear (Ursus thibetanus) through rigorous field science, evidence-based management, and active community engagement.

●|Scientific Database & Range Mapping: Building standardized, uniform regional databases through systematic camera-trapping arrays, occupancy surveys, and habitat suitability modeling to understand population abundance and movement corridors.

●|​Bridging Science & Policy: Translating field data into actionable insights for policymakers, provincial wildlife management departments, and conservationists to guide protected area planning and threat mitigation.

●|​Capacity Building: Elevating technical standards by training management staff, field rangers, and early-career researchers in cutting-edge wildlife monitoring techniques.

●|​Coexistence & Community Engagement: Working directly with local communities living alongside bear habitats to develop practical, non-lethal strategies to mitigate Human-Bear Conflict (HBC) and foster long-term coexistence.

●|​Missing Names from Merit List: If you have submitted a complete application but your name does not appear on the recently displayed merit list, you must visit the department immediately with your original documents and application copy to reconcile your status.

●|​Fee Challan / Payment Issues: Applicants experiencing difficulties with fee challan generation, online status updating, or bank verification are directed to report their issue directly to the departmental admission desk for manual clearance.

●|​Deadline for Rectification: All queries, corrections, and fee-related issues must be resolved at the earliest to secure your seat.

​It is with a heavy and deeply grieved heart that we share the news of the passing of Dr. Muhammad Mumtaz Malik, former Chief Conservator of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department and esteemed Advisor to the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management, The University of Haripur.

​Dr. Malik was a true pioneer, a visionary mentor, and a cornerstone of wildlife conservation in Pakistan. His lifelong dedication, wisdom, and tireless service to protecting our natural heritage have left an indelible mark on generations of conservationists, scholars, and field professionals. For so many of us, he was not just an advisor, but a guiding light and an inspirational figure whose leadership shaped the trajectory of wildlife management across the country.
