Islamabad Bar Council Official page of the Islamabad Bar Council Thus, it was a need of hour to have an independent High Court for Islamabad Capital Territory alone.

Before the establishment of “Islamabad High Court at Islamabad”, the Lahore High Court at Rawalpindi Bench was excessively burdened with the litigation relating to Islamabad Capital Territory. With the collective efforts of Bench and Bar, the “Islamabad High Court, Islamabad” has been established through an Act of Parliament titled as Islamabad High Court Act 2010 (XVII of 2010). Previously, the I

slamabad Capital Territory was given representation to Punjab Bar Council. Consequent upon the establishment of Islamabad High Court and a statutory requirement under the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act 1973 ( # # of 1973), the Islamabad Bar Council has also been established through an Act of Parliament titled “Islamabad Bar Council Act 2014”. Presently, the Islamabad Bar Council has strength of five elected Members and one elected Member for Pakistan Bar Council. On its inception, the Islamabad Capital Territory elected its 1st five Members through elections held on 05th May, 2015 for a term of 05 years. Its elected Members are: Muhammad ShoaibShaheen, Qazi Rafi-uddin Babar, Haroon-ur-Rashid, Fiaz Ahmed Jhindran and Syed Wajid Ali Gillani. Subsequently, the Islamabad Bar Council elected Muhammad ShoaibShaheen asits 1st Vice-Chairman,Qazi Rafi-uddin Babar as Chairman Disciplinary Committee, Haroonur Rashid as Chairman Human Rights Committee, Fiaz Ahmed Jhindran as Chairman Rule Making/Legal Education and Syed Wajid Ali Gillani as Chairman Executive Committee. The Islamabad Bar Council has established its own office within a period of just 03 months and has honor to enroll 250 lawyers as Advocates for High Court and District Courts for Islamabad Capital Territory, within a short span of just 06 months. The Islamabad Bar Council has the honor to have its 1st Enrollment Certificate Award Ceremony, having been graced by Mr. Justice Anwar ZaheerJamali, Honorable Chief Justice of Pakistan as distinguished Chief Guest on 31.10.2015. Under the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act 1973 ( # # of 1973), the Islamabad Capital Territory has been a representation of one Member in Pakistan Bar Council. On 21.12.2015, the Islamabad Bar Council elected Muhammad ShoaibShaheen as Member Pakistan Bar Council.

The Members extended their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to 𝐌𝐫. 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐤 on his prestigious appointment as Advocate General ICT and expressed their confidence in his visionary leadership, professional excellence, and unwavering commitment to the legal fraternity.

Today, the concluding lecture of the Bar Vocational Course (Session 16) was delivered by 𝐂𝐡. 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐟 𝐈𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐧, Vice Chairman Islamabad Bar Council / Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan.
