🏭🤝Visit to Korean Enterprise, Lotte Kolson

Consul General Joohoon Kim visited the Lotte Kolson factory in Karachi(Executive Director: Yong Sung Shin) at 10:00 a.m. on June 5(Fri). During the visit, the Consul General briefed on the current status of the company, identified its mid-to-long-term plans and difficulties, and exchanged views on collaborating with our Karachi office regarding the expansion of the "K-Initiative."

Consul Jungnan Lee and Consul Jihyun Kim from our Karachi office, along with Director Sungwoon Hwang of the Korea Trade Center, KOTRA Karachi, accompanied the Consul General.

Recently, there have been cases of voice phishing targeting overseas Korean nationals, in which scammers impersonate government agencies such as overseas diplomatic missions, MOFA Consular Emergency Centre, and law enforcement authorities. We urge everyone to remain vigilant.

Please note that government agencies do not request personal information or money via phone calls, text messages, or emails, nor do they instruct individuals to operate ATMs.

If you suspect that you have been targeted or victimized, please report the incident promptly to the local police authorities in your area. We also encourage you to inform the nearest diplomatic mission and those around you to help prevent further victims.

If you require consular assistance related to a crime, please contact the MOFA Consular Emergency Centre (+82-2-3210-0404) or the main contact number listed on the website of the relevant diplomatic mission.

📚📜Meeting with the Vice Rector of Greenich University

Consul General Joohoon Kim visited Greenich University in Karachi on the morning of June 4(Thu), met with Vice Rector Naveed Ahmed Mughal, and exchanged views on cooperation measures for education and cultural exchange. Consul General Kim appreciated Greenich University's long-standing cooperation with our Karachi office in the field of public diplomacy (such as hosting K-Pop festivals) and agreed that both sides would actively cooperate to establish a within the university in the future.

🤝🚢Meeting with the chairman of the Korea-Pakistan Business Forum

Consul General Joohoon Kim met with Sohail Shams, chairman of the Korea-Pakistan Business Forum, on the morning of June 2(Tue) and exchanged views on ways to promote exchange and cooperation between the two countries and businesspeople. Chairman Shams, who has a long-standing business relationship with Korea spanning over 30 years, noted the popularity of K-food and K-beauty products in Karachi and expressed his anticipation for the launch of flights to Korea via Thailand.

김주훈 총영사는 6.2(화) 오전 Sohail Shams 한-파키스탄 상공 비즈니스 포럼 대표를 면담하고 양국 및 경제인간 교류협력 증진방안에 대하여 의견을 교환하였습니다. 한국과 30년 이상의 오랜 비즈니스 인연을 갖고 있는 Shams 회장은 카라치 현지에서 K-푸드, K-뷰티 제품들이 인기를 얻고 있음을 평가하면서 태국을 경유하는 한국행 항공편의 취항을 기대하였습니다.

🇵🇰🇰🇷Meeting with Governor-General of Sindh Province

Consul General Joohoon Kim paid a courtesy call on Syed Muhammad N. Hashmi, Governor-General of Sindh Province, on the afternoon of May 15(Fri) to assess the current situation in Sindh Province and exchange views on various cooperation measures between Korea and Sindh Province.

Governor-General Hashmi, who visited Korea in 2017, expressed deep interest in Korea, mentioning K-culture, K-food, and K-beauty products(cosmetics), which are gaining popularity in Pakistan.

김주훈 총영사는 5.15.(금) 오후 Syed Muhammad N. Hashmi 신드주 총독을 예방하여 신드주 현황을 파악하는 한편 한-신드주간 각종 협력방안에 대하여 의견교환을 하였습니다.

2017년 방한 경험이 있는 Hashmi 총독은 파키스탄에서도 인기를 얻고 있는 K-컬쳐, K-푸드 및 K-뷰티제품(화장품)에 대해서 언급하는 등 한국에 대한 깊은 관심을 표명하였습니다.

🤝💼 Attendance at Karachi Korean Enterprise Conference

Consul General Joohoon Kim attended the Karachi Korean Enterprises Conference hosted by KOTRA on May 14(Thu), to establish KOTRA and based on cooperative relationship and discuss pending issues, difficulties and solutions for Korean enterprises entering the country due to changes in the business environment in Pakistan. The meeting was attended by 10 Korean enterprises in Karachi, KOTRA Director Sungwoon Hwang and his staffs, and our Karachi office consuls.

🍀 Meeting with the Director of the Employment Permit System(EPS) Center in Pakistan

On May 12(Tue), Consul General Joohoon Kim held a luncheon meeting with Jeongbang Park, Director of the Employment Permit System(EPS) Center (based in Islamabad, Pakistan), to discuss the Pakistan Employment Permit System and the current status of the Korean Language Proficiency Test(EPS-TOPIC) for the selection of foreign workers to be conducted in Karachi from September to October 2026. Consul Jungnan Lee of our Karachi office was also present.
