As Pakistan marks 79 years of independence, we're reminded that freedom carries a promise.. the promise of a healthier, more dignified future for every citizen.

That promise remains unfinished. Every day, mothers and children across Pakistan continue to lose their lives to largely preventable causes, a reality that calls not for blame, but for collective responsibility.

For 34 years, Greenstar Social Marketing has worked to be one of Pakistan's "Darakhshan Sitaray" standing alongside communities, healthcare providers, and families to expand access to family planning, maternal and child health, and essential healthcare across the country.

We are not the only answer. But we remain committed to being one of the many working toward a healthier Pakistan, because that future is a responsibility we all share.

Every month, in classrooms across Pakistan, a seat goes empty, not because of exams, not because of illness, but because a girl didn't have access to a pad, a private toilet, or accurate information about her own body.

Let's say it plainly: periods are a normal, manageable part of health. They shouldn't cost any girl a class, a match, an exam, or a shift. When they do, the problem isn't menstruation.. it's the missing hygiene products, the missing privacy, and the missing information that should have been there all along.

This is exactly what Greenstar Social Marketing Pakistan works on, making accurate, non-stigmatizing menstrual health information and resources reachable for adolescent girls, wherever they are. Not whispered about. Not treated as a secret. Just health, talked about the way health should be.

Our recent Provincial Advocacy Seminar in Peshawar brought together key public and private sector stakeholders to strengthen the use of Zinc and Low Osmolarity ORS (LoORS) in combination as the first-line treatment for childhood diarrhoea.

With diarrhoea remaining a preventable cause of death among children under five, ensuring that every child receives the right treatment at the right time can make a life-saving difference. This initiative aims to translate evidence, guidelines, and stronger provider engagement into action, helping prevent avoidable diarrhoea-related deaths this year.

Through continued collaboration between Greenstar Social Marketing and Nutrition International, alongside provincial health stakeholders and healthcare providers, we can strengthen diarrhoea management and move closer to a future where no child loses their life to a preventable cause.
