On the directions of worthy Deputy Commissioner Kohat &Assistant Director (Sr) LG&RDD field inspection was conducted on 05 September 2026 by Mr. Shakeel Ahmed (Progress Officer) and Mr. Farooq Ahmed (Supervisor). The team visited the garbage dumping sites in Village Council (VC) Muslim Abad-1, VC Summari Bala ,VC Summari Payn ,VC Jerma 1 & Jerma II to assess the sanitation situation.
The inspection revealed that the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Kohat has failed to clear the garbage from these designated sites, directly violating the explicit directives issued by the district administration.The monitoring team highlighted the following critical issues during the visit:
*Public Health Risks:* The dumping sites are severely overfilled. Because many of these sites are located near local schools, the uncollected waste poses an immediate health hazard to students.
*Environmental & Road Hazards:* High winds are scattering loose garbage across main roads, disrupting traffic and causing environmental degradation.
*Incomplete Waste Collection:* TMA staff are reportedly practicing selective cleaning, only lifting garbage from visible roadside areas while completely neglecting the main dumping sites hidden from the main road.
*Urban Flooding Threat:* At one specific site, massive accumulations of garbage have entirely blocked a primary water channel. During rains, this blockage will trigger localized flooding, risking the entry of sewage and rainwater into nearby residential houses.Both local residents and elected public representatives have expressed severe grievances, demanding the immediate evacuation of these overfilled sites.
Given the urgency of the situation, immediate and punitive actions are required from TMA Kohat to rectify these lapses and prevent a public health crisis.
