Planning & Development Board, Govt. of the Punjab

Planning & Development Board, Govt. of the Punjab The Planning and Development Board, Government of the Punjab is the Principal Planning Organization of the Province.

The Government of the Punjab accords the highest priority to the socio-economic development of the people. The Planning & Development Department is mainly responsible for advising the government on development policy and planning. The Department is making focused interventions for poverty alleviation and human development as well as accelerating economic growth and infrastructural development. Pub

lic participation, decentralization and targeted outcomes remain the hallmark of these efforts. In accordance with the priorities of the government, several overarching themes have emerged in the development planning recently. These include sustainability of development initiatives, balancing development by according priority to lesser privileged areas, extension of social coverage and creating supportive environment for private sector led growth. Some new practices including introduction of Medium Term Development Framework and setting up of special projects for fiscal, social and governance reforms have been institutionalized to support development in these areas. The Planning & Development Department remains committed to a development strategy that fulfills the needs and aspirations of the people. It also remains open to discussion and dissemination of ideas and information. This website provides a vehicle for such an engagement. I am convinced that it will not only keep the public informed of the current development activities and performance but will also contribute to the formulation of a comprehensive development strategy reflecting public views and preferences.
