🇵🇰 جشنِ آزادی مبارک 🇵🇰

رائس ریسرچ انسٹیٹیوٹ کالا شاہ کاکو میں 14 اگست 2026ء، یومِ آزادیٔ پاکستان کے موقع پر 79واں جشنِ آزادی ملی جوش و جذبے، قومی یکجہتی اور وطن سے محبت کے عزم کے ساتھ منایا گیا۔

اس موقع پر ادارے کے افسران و ملازمین نے شجرکاری مہم میں بھرپور حصہ لیا اور وطنِ عزیز کو سرسبز و شاداب بنانے کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا۔ اس موقع پر پاکستان کی ترقی، خوشحالی، امن و استحکام اور بقا کے لیے خصوصی دعا بھی کی گئی۔

Understanding Rice Grain Physical Parameters 🔬🌾

Grain length and thickness are important physical parameters that play a significant role in determining the quality, commercial grade, and classification of paddy, brown rice, and milled rice. At the Rice Research Institute, Kala Shah Kaku, these parameters are accurately evaluated as part of our food technology and rice quality research.

Mr. Mohsin Ali Raza, Senior Scientist (Food Technology), demonstrates the measurement of rice grain dimensions using a calibrated Dial Caliper/Micrometer, capable of measuring grain dimensions with a measurement range of 0–20 mm.

🌾 کاشتکاروں کے لیے اہم آگاہی

چوبہ (Weedy Red Rice) دھان کی فصل میں پائی جانے والی ایک نقصان دہ جڑی بوٹی نما قسم ہے، جو فصل کے ساتھ مقابلہ کر کے پیداوار اور چاول کے معیار کو متاثر کرتی ہے۔ کٹائی کے دوران اس کے سرخ دانے معیاری چاول میں شامل ہو جائیں تو چاول کی مارکیٹ ویلیو اور برآمدی معیار بھی متاثر ہو سکتا ہے۔

چوبہ سے بچاؤ کے لیے صرف تصدیق شدہ (Certified) بیج استعمال کریں، کھیت کو چوبہ سے پاک رکھیں، فصل کی باقاعدہ نگرانی کریں اور محکمہ زراعت کی سفارشات کے مطابق جڑی بوٹی مار ادویات کا بروقت استعمال کریں۔

Awareness Message | Choba (Weedy Red Rice)

Choba (Weedy Red Rice) is belongs to the same species as cultivated rice, but it is taller, more competitive, and produces red grains that contaminate harvested rice. Its presence reduces crop yield and grain quality, while contamination above 2% can lead to rejection of premium rice lots in domestic and export markets.

Farmers are advised to prevent the spread of Choba by using certified seed, maintaining field sanitation, following crop rotation.

The Rice Research Institute (RRI), Kala Shah Kaku, had the honor of welcoming Prof. Dr. Ijaz Rasool Noorka, Chairman, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, University of Sargodha.

On behalf of Director Rice, the institute's scientists warmly received the distinguished guest and provided a comprehensive briefing on the institute's ongoing research programs, major achievements, and future research priorities.

During his visit, Prof. Dr. Noorka—Chief Editor of several renowned international scientific journals, including SABRAO, and publisher of the monthly magazine دواب—held a highly productive meeting with the scientists of RRI. The discussions focused on strengthening future research collaborations, promoting joint scientific publications, and enhancing academic linkages between the two institutions.

Prof. Dr. Noorka highly appreciated the quality and impact of the research being carried out at RRI and expressed his confidence in developing stronger partnerships to advance agricultural research and innovation for the benefit of Pakistan's rice sector.

In light of the recent flood situation in Kala Shah Kaku regions, the Director Rice conducted an intensive field review of our tenant and direct cultivation areas. The visit was focused on more than just immediate recovery; it was about ensuring that our long-term scientific objectives remain on track despite environmental challenges.

After assessing the damage to the paddy crop, the Director issued strategic directives aimed at protecting the integrity of our breeding programs and the continuity of our vital research trials.

کیا آپ جانتے ہیں کہ چاول کی مختلف اقسام کی بنیاد صرف ان کی ورائٹی پر نہیں، بلکہ کٹائی کے بعد ان کی پروسیسنگ (تیاری) کے طریقہ کار پر بھی ہوتی ہے؟

آئیے آپ کو بتاتے ہیں کہ بازار میں دستیاب چاول کی مشہور اقسام میں کیا فرق ہے:

1️⃣ کچی باسمتی (Raw Rice): یہ چاول کی قدرتی شکل ہے جسے چھیلکا اتارنے کے بعد حاصل کیا جاتا ہے۔ اس کی سب سے بڑی خوبی اس کی لاجواب خوشبو اور ذائقہ ہے، لیکن یہ پکاتے وقت کافی نازک ہوتے ہیں اور ذرا سی لاپرواہی سے ٹوٹ سکتے ہیں ۔

2️⃣ پکی باسمتی یا پرانا چاول (Old Rice): اسے گوداموں میں خاص طریقے سے رکھ کر Aging کیا جاتا ہے تاکہ اس کا نشاستہ (Starch) سیٹ ہو جائے۔ یہی وجہ ہے کہ پکنے کے بعد اس کا دانہ لمبا رہتا ہے اور آپس میں جڑتا نہیں ہے ۔

3️⃣ سیلا دھان (Parboiled Paddy): اسے بھاپ (Steam) کے خاص عمل سے گزار کر خشک کیا جاتا ہے، جس سے وٹامنز اور معدنیات دانے کے اندر ہی جذب ہو جاتے ہیں۔ یہ چاول بریانی، زردہ اور دیگوں کے لیے بہترین ہے کیونکہ یہ ٹوٹتا نہیں ہے۔ یاد رہے کہ اسے پکانے سے پہلے کم از کم 2 سے 3 گھنٹے بھگو کر رکھنا ضروری ہے ۔

4️⃣ ڈبل سٹیم دھان (Double Steamed Paddy): یہ جدید دور کی پروسیسنگ ہے جس میں چاول کو دو بار بھاپ دی جاتی ہے۔ یہ دیکھنے میں بہت سفید اور چمکدار ہوتا ہے اور روزمرہ گھروں میں پلاؤ کے لیے بہت پسند کیا جاتا ہے کیونکہ اس کا دانہ خوبصورت اور لمبا ہوتا ہے ۔
