Punjab Economic Research Institute-PERI, Planning & Development Board Punjab Economic Research Institute (PERI) is the oldest economic research institute in the country, established in 1919. PERI is a statutory body.

PERI is an Oldest Economic Research Institution in the Country. Established as Punjab Board of Economic Inquiry in 1919. Reorganized and renamed as Economic Research Institute (ERI) in 1977. Renamed as Punjab Economic Research Institute (PERI) in 1980. The Institute is managed by its Board. The Institute is funded through a grant from the Punjab Government. Main Functions are:
To conduct research

on important socio-economic issues as may be desired or authorized by the Government. To compile and publish results of such research. To advise and make recommendations to Government, as and when required with regard to various economic policies.To provide information and advice regarding research techniques and methodology in economics and related social disciplines. To provide facilities for training in socio-economic research and demographic analysis to such persons as Government may direct. To extend cooperation to national and international organizations in the fields of economic research and training. To arrange / promote seminars / conferences on various socio-economic problems.
