MUST, Mirpur AJ&K render laudatory & valedictory Farewell to Brigadier Younus Javed, outgoing Vice Chancellor on successful culmination of his transformative five year tenure; an eminent academician & recipient of the prestigious Sitara-e-Imtiaz having unparallel four-decade legacy of recognition whilst being founding member of the Country’s Premier University NUST having served with distinction as Vice Chancellor of HITEC University Taxila for five years prior to joining MUST in July 2021 whereupon his Administrative acumen & sagacious leadership contributions to Higher Education at Regional & National level led to being entrusted with additional charge of University of Kotli (UoK) in 2023 & subsequently of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir University of Bhimber (AJ&K UoB) from January 2024 whose contemporaneous services of three Public-Sector Universities of Azad Jammu & Kashmir constitutes rare feat in the annals of Higher Education & his enduring legacy of renaissance would continue to inspire future generations

Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K graciously hosted farewell ceremony in the honour of Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M) Vice Chancellor MUST at Mechanical Hall of the City Campus of the University on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 upon successfully completing his five year tenure which is culminating on June 27, 2026. Special event organized in recognition of his exemplary leadership, historic contributions & tireless efforts for the advancement of Higher Education over nearly four decades. His tremendous efforts have played consequential role in the Growth & Development of Mirpur University. Following his arrival at the City Campus he was given fabulous & splendid reception by Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dean faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sajid, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Prof. Dr. Naeem Iqbal Ratyal, Registrar, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences/Chief Finance Officer, Prof. Dr. Rashida Hussain, Dean Faculty of Natural & Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Faisal Raiz, Dean Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Prof. Dr. khuram Pervez Amber, Director QEC, Mr. Kamran Hameed, Controller of Examinations, Heads of Departments, Directors, Coordinators, Faculty Members & Administrative Staff.

The ceremony commenced with a brief multimedia presentation by Prof. Dr. Khuram Pervez Amber, Director Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) highlighting remarkable progress achieved by the University during the tenure of Brigadier Younus Javed. He particularly highlighted the University achievements in National & International rankings including the improvement in the HEC ranking score from 72. 63 in 2020 to 92.63 in 2026. Speaking on the occasion the Deans of Faculties & Principal Officers and other participants of the event paid rich tribute to Brigadier Younus Javed for his visionary leadership and outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the Mirpur University. They lauded his strong principles, integrity & professionalism alongside his significant efforts in modernizing University infrastructure, enhancing research output & expanding academic collaborations particularly in building research-oriented environment.

Addressing the gathering Brigadier Younus Javed, VC MUST expressed his sincere gratitude to the University community for arranging a memorable farewell ceremony. He stated that as he would be concluding his tenure on June 27, 2026 he felt deeply touched and humbled by the warmth, the respect & the affection extended to him by the Deans of the Faculties, Principal Officers, Heads of Departments, Directors, Coordinators, Faculty Members, Administrative Officers & Staff. He said that it had been an honour & privilege to serve such a vibrant academic community whose collective efforts & support enabled the University to achieve new milestones & strengthen its standing at National and international levels. He thanked the entire MUST family for their cooperation & camaraderie throughout his tenure & prayed for the continued progress of the University and the bright future of its Students. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of souvenirs on behalf of the Deans of the Faculties, University Administration, Faculty, Officers & staff as a token of appreciation, followed by group photographs. The Department of Pharmacy organised Pharmacognosy Project Exhibition, highlighting the creativity & commitment of future pharmacists

The Department of Pharmacy of Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K, successfully organized a Pharmacognosy project exhibition, led by Ms. Muniba Afzal, Lecturer, Pharmacognosy and supervised by Dr. Mian Zeeshan Javed, Chairman, Department of Pharmacy. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Faisal Riaz, Dean, Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences; Engr. Dr. Khurram Pervaiz, Director QEC; and Dr. Sohaib Manzoor, Director Business Incubation Center (BIC). The exhibition provided a platform for pharmacy students to showcase their innovative projects, highlighting their creativity and dedication to the field. Awards were decided by a two-member jury comprising Engr. Dr. Khurram Pervaiz, Director QEC, and Dr. Sohaib Manzoor, Director Business Incubation Center (BIC), who selected the winners and runner-up positions. Award winners included Fragnaria Essence by Rooman Shah & Co. (First Position), Hazre BB Cream by Zara Batool & Co. (Second Position), and Blue Light Mist by M. Ali & Co. (Third Position). This exhibition was a testament to the students' ability to combine scientific knowledge with innovation, creating products that are both practical and impactful.

Vice Chancellor Applauds BIC-MUST Team as Center Achieves ‘X’ Category in HEC Scorecard 2025–26

Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur, continues to achieve significant milestones in the promotion of innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup development. In recognition of the remarkable performance demonstrated by the Business Incubation Center (BIC), the Vice Chancellor of MUST, Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed, SI(M), hosted a special appreciation ceremony in honor of the BIC team. The ceremony was attended by Engr. Dr. Sohaib Manzoor, Director BIC, Mr. Zahid Mehmood, HR Officer BIC, and Mr. Muhammad Kamran. The event was also graced by Prof. Dr. Naeem Iqbal Ratyal, Registrar MUST, and Daud Ali Siddiqui SPS to the Vice Chancellor. The appreciation ceremony was organized to acknowledge the exceptional progress achieved by BIC-MUST in the latest Higher Education Commission (HEC) Business Incubation Center Scorecard. Under the leadership of the BIC team, MUST achieved a remarkable improvement from “Y” Category to “X” Category with 77 marks, secured the 1st position in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and attained the 10th position nationally among Business Incubation Centers in Pakistan.

To celebrate this significant achievement, a commemorative cake-cutting ceremony was held, followed by the distribution of appreciation certificates among the BIC team members in recognition of their dedication, hard work, and commitment toward strengthening the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem at MUST. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed, SI(M) congratulated the entire BIC team on their outstanding accomplishment and appreciated their efforts in elevating the university's standing at both regional and national levels. He expressed confidence that the team would continue its excellent performance and further contribute to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, startup development, and industry-academia linkages in the future. The BIC team thanked the Vice Chancellor for his continued support, encouragement, and visionary leadership, reaffirming their commitment to achieving even greater milestones for MUST and the entrepreneurial community of Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) conducted its much-anticipated Patent Clinic 2026 on June 2, 2026, at the ORIC Office. Prof. Dr. Faisal Riaz, Director ORIC, led the session and delivered a detailed, hands-on presentation on Pakistan's patent rules, filing procedures, and form-specific guidance, using his own successfully filed patent as a live example for participants. The event was facilitated by the ORIC team including Engr. Irfan Jamshed, Manager Research Management, and Ms. Samina Kausar, Manager Innovation and Commercialization.

Participants gained practical understanding of patentability criteria, the difference between *Form P-1A* and *Form P-3A*, prior-art searching, and the critical rule of
"*Protect Before You Publish*." ORIC continues to offer awareness, guidance, and financial support for patent filing at MUST. A follow-up Phase 2 session is scheduled for Thursday, where researchers may voluntarily bring their draft patents for refinement, review, and assistance with submission to the *Intellectual Property Organization (IPO), Pakistan*. Despite modest attendance, ORIC remains committed to supporting every serious researcher willing to take the step from innovation to protection, and encourages all faculty and research scholars to prepare their drafts for the upcoming hands-on clinic.

Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of MUST conducts Quality Assurance visit to Government Post Graduate College Mirpur

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) team of MUST led by Prof. Engr. Dr. Khuram Pervez Amber (Director QEC) accompanied by Dr. Abdul Jabbar (Dy. Director QEC MUST), and Ms. Shamaila Zafar (Assistant Director, QEC MUST) visited the Government Post Graduate College Mirpur as part of its continued efforts to strengthen quality assurance practices and academic excellence in affiliated institutions. The QEC team was warmly received by Mr. Ijaz Ahmed (Associate Professor), Mr. Khawaja Zafar (Assistant Professor/QEC focal person), and Ms. Qudsia (Associate Professor / Head of the Department of English), Mr. Attiqur Rehman (Assistant Professor/HoD Department of Chemistry), along with other faculty members and staff of the college. The visit reflected the strong collaborative spirit between MUST and its affiliated colleges in promoting a culture of quality education and continuous improvement.

During the visit, the QEC team inspected various academic departments affiliated with MUST, including the Departments of Zoology, Chemistry, BBA, English, and others. The team visited laboratories, classrooms, library facilities, faculty offices, and other academic resources to review the overall learning environment and quality standards being implemented at the institution. The QEC team also interacted with faculty members and students from different departments to gain valuable feedback regarding the teaching-learning process, academic facilities, and student support mechanisms. In addition, detailed inspections of course files from the recently completed semester were conducted to review academic documentation and compliance with prescribed quality assurance standards. The visit concluded at the Department of English, where the Head of Department, Associate Professor Dr. Qudsia warmly received the QEC team and shared the department’s academic activities and future aspirations. It was highly encouraging to observe the enthusiasm and eagerness of the college faculty members to further enhance their understanding and implementation of quality standards in higher education. It was mutually agreed that the QEC of MUST will arrange future training sessions and capacity-building workshops for faculty members and students of the college on various quality assurance and academic development aspects. I would like to sincerely appreciate the administration, faculty, and staff of Government Post Graduate College Mirpur for their cooperation, hospitality, and commitment to academic excellence. Such collaborative initiatives play a vital role in ensuring quality education and strengthening institutional development across affiliated colleges of MUST. Together, we remain dedicated to strengthening a culture of continuous quality improvement, academic integrity, and institutional excellence across all affiliated institutions of MUST.
