🌱 Farmer Cluster Training on Post-Harvest Management & Value Addition of Onion Crop
On 28 August 2026, a Farmer Cluster Training Session for onion growers was successfully conducted at Jalalpur Pirwala, District Multan, organized by the Marketing Facilitation Centre (MFC), Multan, under the Strengthening Agricultural Marketing Information Service (SAMIS) Project.
The training focused on improving farmers’ knowledge and practices related to post-harvest management, quality maintenance, value addition, marketing, and export potential of onion crop.
🎙️ Resource Persons including Dr. Hafiz Nazar Farid, Associate Professor (Horticulture), MNS University of Agriculture Multan, and Haji Muhammad Ikram Arain, renowned exporter of fruits and vegetables, from Multan, delivered valuable and practical lectures on post-harvest handling, value addition, and export opportunities for onion.
📌 Mr. Muhammad Ibrahim Rashid, AD (M.E&R), SAMIS, Punjab, and Mr. Muhammad Mazhar, Head MFC, Multan, briefed the participants about the activities of the SAMIS Project and upcoming project interventions aimed at strengthening agricultural marketing and facilitating farmers.
Mr. Choudary Ihtasham Ali, AO(E&M), Multan, also participated as technical organizer of the training, along with Mohsin Raza, MSA, Multan.
💬 The session concluded with an engaging Question & Answer session, providing farmers an opportunity to discuss their field-level challenges and seek practical guidance from the resource persons.
The training is an important step towards enhancing farmers’ capacity, reducing post-harvest losses, improving onion quality, and increasing market access and profitability.
