🇵🇰🤝🇨🇳 Ministry of National Food Security's Research institute, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) are entering a new phase of strategic cooperation following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China under .0, accompanied by Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research.
🌾The collaboration aims to modernize Pakistan’s agriculture sector through advanced research, innovation, technology transfer, and institutional partnerships. During the visit, enhanced cooperation between PARC and CAAS focused on smart farming, biotechnology, genomics, climate-smart agriculture, artificial intelligence, mechanization, livestock improvement, and food processing.
A major development of the visit was the proposal to establish five specialized Centers of Excellence in collaboration with PARC and CAAS, focusing on:
🌱 Genome-Based Research in Field and Horticultural Crops
🐄 Genetic Improvement and Health Management of Livestock
💧 Climate-Smart Solutions for Land, Water, and Energy
🤖 Artificial Intelligence & Technology in Agriculture and Food Systems
🍎 Food Processing, Value Addition, and Product Development
The partnership also supports the continued training of 1,000 Pakistani agriculture graduates in China, strengthening Pakistan’s transition toward a modern, research-driven, and technology-enabled agricultural economy. 🌱🚜📈
