January to December 26, 2023, The total of 16.9M people visited Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for tourism. This included 4,554 foreign tourists. If facilities are further improved, this number could surpass the current figure.

According to the report, in 2023, Gilgit-Baltistan emerged as the most attractive destination, attracting a total of 6.34 million tourists for tourism and recreational activities throughout the year. Naran Kaghan Valley and Malam Jabba also witnessed significant influxes, hosting 5.08 million and 3.54 million tourists, respectively.

Furthermore, Upper and Lower Dir collectively experienced a shared arrival of 1,380,740 tourists who were eager to explore the natural beauty of the region. Lower Chitral recorded a prominent figure of 591,330 tourists, while Upper Chitral welcomed 38,771 tourists during the year.

The arrival of foreign tourists presented a diverse picture, with Lower Chitral hosting 1,624 international tourists. Upper Chitral saw the presence of 791 foreign tourists, while Dir (Upper and Lower) hosted 417, Swat Valley 237, Malam Jabba 588, and Naran Kaghan Valley 897 international tourists.

These figures illustrate that Gilgit-Baltistan has established itself as a destination in 2023, attracting tourists with a combination of natural beauty, historical sites, and rich local cultural heritage.
