INCIDENT REPORT
FIRE INCIDENT AT PAKISTAN CUSTOMS WAREHOUSE, LAKPASS

Location: Pakistan Customs Warehouse, Lakpass, Balochistan
On 10 May 2026 at approximately 11:00 AM, the Provincial Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) received information regarding a major fire incident at the Pakistan Customs Warehouse located at Lakpass.
Upon receipt of the information, the Relief Commissioner / Director General PDMA Balochistan, Mr. Jahanzeb Khan Ghorezai, issued immediate directions for the prompt deployment of PDMA response teams to the incident site.
Subsequently, the Relief Commissioner / DG PDMA, Director Rescue Mr. Naveed Ahmed Sheikh, and Deputy Director Rescue Mr. Asghar Ali Jamali reached the incident location to supervise and monitor the ongoing firefighting and rescue operation.
During the supervision of the operation, a massive explosion occurred due to the blast of an LPG gas bowser present at the site. As a result of the explosion, more than 35 individuals sustained burn and blast-related injuries. Furthermore, the Relief Commissioner / DG PDMA, Deputy Commissioner Mastung, Wing Commander FC, and Assistant Commissioner Quetta also sustained minor injuries during the incident.
Immediately after the explosion, PDMA rescue teams initiated emergency response activities and successfully rescued and shifted 35 injured individuals to nearby hospitals for medical treatment and emergency care.
During the night between 10 and 11 May 2026, at approximately 01:00 AM, the firefighting teams of PDMA Balochistan and Metropolitan Corporation Quetta (MCQ) jointly commenced an extensive fire suppression operation under the supervision of the Director Rescue and Deputy Director Rescue.
The firefighting teams utilized AFFF Foam to suppress the fire and successfully achieved significant operational progress in controlling the blaze.
At approximately 06:30 AM on 11 May 2026, nearly 80% of the fire was brought under control. Subsequently, at around 10:30 AM, PDMA and MCQ firefighting teams jointly initiated the cooling process in approximately 80% of the affected area to prevent any possibility of re-ignition.
At present, teams from PDMA, MCQ, Frontier Corps (FC), Police, and representatives of the District Administrations of Quetta and Mastung remain deployed at the site and are actively engaged in response and monitoring activities.
The Relief Commissioner / DG PDMA Balochistan, Mr. Jahanzeb Khan Ghorezai, appreciated the unwavering dedication, professionalism, and courageous efforts of all firefighters, rescuers, and response personnel involved in the operation.
