On April 15, 1969, 22-year-old Corporal John Ethridge McDonald, a proud member of the 101st Airborne Division, faced the brutal reality of the Vietnam War. While stationed in Thừa Thiên Province, he was caught in a sudden explosion caused by fragmentation grenades. Despite being wounded, McDonald continued to fight for his comrades, but his life was tragically cut short.
