Independence Day Message from Rana Basharat Ali Khan: Freedom Is a Guarantee of National Unity, Peace and the Protection of Human Rights

Geneva/Islamabad:

14 August 1947 is a great and unforgettable day in the history of Pakistan, when the Muslims of the subcontinent, under the inspirational leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, achieved an independent homeland.

On the occasion of Independence Day, Rana Basharat Ali Khan, World Chairman and UN Observer, International Human Rights Movement, United Nations Geneva Office, Switzerland, has extended his heartfelt greetings to the entire Pakistani nation, saying that Pakistan is the result of the tremendous struggle, sacrifices and unwavering determination of our forefathers.

In his message, Rana Basharat Ali Khan said that freedom is a great blessing from Almighty Allah, and safeguarding and valuing this blessing is a collective responsibility. For Pakistan's development, prosperity, stability and strong democratic future, it is essential to promote national unity, tolerance, the rule of law, justice and respect for human rights.

He said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah envisioned a Pakistan where every citizen would enjoy equal rights, religious freedom, dignity, security and justice. Today, we must pledge to make the Quaid's principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline an integral part of our national life and play our role in making Pakistan a strong, peaceful, progressive country and a champion of human rights.

Rana Basharat Ali Khan said that Pakistan has consistently raised its voice for global peace, human dignity and the right to self-determination of oppressed nations. In view of the prevailing global situation, it is essential for Pakistan to strengthen its role internationally by ensuring that we remain internally strong, united and committed to mutual respect.

He urged the younger generation to play a meaningful role in the country's development and progress through education, research, character-building, modern technology and positive thinking. He said that Pakistan's bright future is closely linked to an aware, educated, talented and united younger generation.

The World Chairman of the International Human Rights Movement further said that Independence Day is not merely an occasion for celebration; it is also an opportunity to reflect upon our national responsibilities, remember the sacrifices of the martyrs and founders of Pakistan, and renew our commitment to the country's security, sovereignty, development and prosperity.

Offering special prayers for Pakistan's security, stability and prosperity, he said:

“May Almighty Allah always keep Pakistan safe and prosperous, bless it with peace, development and prosperity, and grant the entire nation the strength and wisdom to serve our beloved homeland with unity and harmony.”

14 اگست 1947 پاکستان کی تاریخ کا ایک عظیم اور ناقابلِ فراموش دن ہے، جب برصغیر کے مسلمانوں نے قائداعظم محمد علی جناح کی ولولہ انگیز قیادت میں ایک آزاد وطن حاصل کیا۔ یومِ آزادی کے موقع پر رانا بشارت علی خان، ورلڈ چیئرمین و یو این آبزرور، انٹرنیشنل ہیومن رائٹس موومنٹ، یونائیٹڈ نیشن جنیوا آفس، سوئٹزرلینڈ نے پوری پاکستانی قوم کو دلی مبارکباد پیش کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ پاکستان ہمارے بزرگوں کی عظیم جدوجہد، قربانیوں اور لازوال عزم کا ثمر ہے۔

رانا بشارت علی خان نے کہا کہ پاکستان نے ہمیشہ عالمی امن، انسانی وقار اور مظلوم اقوام کے حقِ خودارادیت کے لیے آواز بلند کی ہے۔ موجودہ عالمی حالات میں پاکستان کا کردار مزید مؤثر بنانے کے لیے ضروری ہے کہ ہم اندرونی طور پر مضبوط، متحد اور باہمی احترام کے جذبے سے سرشار ہوں۔
انہوں نے نوجوان نسل پر زور دیا کہ وہ تعلیم، تحقیق، کردار سازی، جدید ٹیکنالوجی اور مثبت سوچ کے ذریعے ملک کی تعمیر و ترقی میں بھرپور کردار ادا کرے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان کا روشن مستقبل ایک باشعور، تعلیم یافتہ، باصلاحیت اور متحد نوجوان نسل سے وابستہ ہے۔
ورلڈ چیئرمین انٹرنیشنل ہیومن رائٹس موومنٹ نے مزید کہا کہ یومِ آزادی صرف جشن منانے کا دن نہیں بلکہ اپنے قومی فرائض کا جائزہ لینے، شہداء اور بانیانِ پاکستان کی قربانیوں کو یاد کرنے اور ملک کی سلامتی، خودمختاری، ترقی اور خوشحالی کے لیے نئے عزم کے ساتھ آگے بڑھنے کا دن ہے۔
انہوں نے پاکستان کی سلامتی، استحکام اور خوشحالی کے لیے خصوصی دعا کرتے ہوئے کہا:

انٹرنیشنل ہیومن رائٹس موومنٹ (IHRM) کے ورلڈ چیئرمین اور اقوامِ متحدہ (UN) آبزرور رانا بشارت علی خان نے 5 اگست یومِ استحصالِ مقبوضہ جموں کشمیر کے موقع پر اپنے خصوصی پیغام میں کہا ہے کہ جموں کشمیر کے عوام کئی دہائیوں سے بنیادی انسانی حقوق، آزادیِ رائے، مذہبی آزادی اور باوقار زندگی کے حق کے لیے جدوجہد کر رہے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہر قسم کی انسانی حقوق کی خلاف ورزی قابلِ مذمت ہے اور متاثرہ شہریوں کے جان و مال، عزت اور بنیادی آزادیوں کا تحفظ اقوام متحدہ اور بین الاقوامی برادری کی مشترکہ ذمہ داری ہے۔
رانا بشارت علی خان نے کہا کہ اقوامِ متحدہ کے چارٹر، ابھی بھی مقبوضہ جموں کشمیر کا مسئلہ زیر التوا ہے انسانی حقوق کے عالمی اعلامیے اور متعلقہ بین الاقوامی اصولوں کی روشنی میں تمام فریقوں کو انسانی وقار، شہری تحفظ اور امن کے فروغ کو ترجیح دینی چاہیے۔ بھارتی فوج نے مقبوضہ جموں و کشمیر کی ہزاروں بچیوں عورتوں بزرگوں اور نوجوانوں کو ظلم اور بربریت کے ساتھ شہید کر چکے ہیں بچیوں اور بزرگ عورتوں کو بری طرح تشدد ریپ کر کے شہید کیا جا چکا ہے انہوں نے عالمی اداروں، انسانی حقوق کی تنظیموں اور سفارتی برادری سے مطالبہ کیا کہ وہ مقبوضہ کشمیر کی عوام کے بنیادی انسانی حقوق کے تحفظ، امن، انصاف اور پائیدار حل کے لیے مؤثر کردار ادا کریں۔
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ انٹرنیشنل ہیومن رائٹس موومنٹ (IHRM) دنیا بھر میں انسانی حقوق، امن، انصاف، بین المذاہب ہم آہنگی اور مظلوم طبقات کے تحفظ کے لیے اپنی آواز بلند کرتی رہے گی۔ انہوں نے اس عزم کا اعادہ کیا کہ تنظیم ہر ایسے اقدام کی حمایت کرے گی جو انسانی وقار، قانون کی حکمرانی، مکالمے اور پائیدار امن کو فروغ دے۔

Kashmir Exploitation Day: India Continues to Deny the Fundamental Rights of the People of Indian-Administered Jammu and Kashmir
The United Nations and the international community must play an effective role in restoring the fundamental human rights of the Kashmiri people, says Rana Basharat Ali Khan

On the occasion of 5 August – Kashmir Exploitation Day, Rana Basharat Ali Khan, World Chairman of the International Human Rights Movement (IHRM) and United Nations (UN) Observer, stated in a special message that the people of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir have endured decades of hardship while striving for the protection of their fundamental human rights, freedom of expression, freedom of religion, and the right to live with dignity.
He emphasised that all forms of human rights violations are unacceptable and must be condemned, adding that the protection of civilians' lives, property, dignity, and fundamental freedoms is a shared responsibility of the United Nations and the wider international community.
Rana Basharat Ali Khan stated that, in accordance with the UN Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and other relevant principles of international law, the issue of Jammu and Kashmir remains unresolved. He urged all parties to prioritise human dignity, civilian protection, peace, and respect for internationally recognised human rights standards.
He further alleged that thousands of civilians, including women, children, elderly people, and young people, have lost their lives during the conflict over the years and expressed concern over reports of serious human rights abuses, including violence against women. He called upon international organisations, human rights bodies, and the diplomatic community to work actively towards safeguarding the fundamental rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to support efforts aimed at achieving peace, justice, and a sustainable resolution through peaceful means.
Rana Basharat Ali Khan reaffirmed that the International Human Rights Movement (IHRM) will continue to advocate globally for human rights, peace, justice, interfaith harmony, and the protection of vulnerable and oppressed communities. He reiterated the organisation's commitment to supporting every initiative that promotes human dignity, the rule of law, constructive dialogue, and lasting peace.
Concluding his message, he said that Kashmir Exploitation Day serves as a reminder of the international community's responsibility to strengthen collective efforts for justice, peace, and respect for human rights so that every individual, without discrimination, can enjoy dignity, security, and fundamental freedoms.
Rana Basharat Ali Khan also described 5 August 2019 as a dark day in the modern history of South Asia, stating that India's decision to revoke the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir marked a significant turning point with profound implications for the rights and future of the people of the region.

مغربی کنارے میں آبادکاروں کے حملے تاریخ کی بلند ترین سطح پر، رواں سال 2,000 سے زائد حملوں کا خدشہ، رانا بشارت علی خاں

رانا بشارت علی خان، چیئرمین انٹرنیشنل ہیومن رائٹس موومنٹ، مقبوضہ مغربی کنارے میں فلسطینی شہریوں کے خلاف بڑھتے ہوئے تشدد پر گہری تشویش کا اظہار کرتے ہیں۔ تازہ ترین مستند بین الاقوامی رپورٹس کے مطابق اسرائیلی آبادکاروں کے حملوں میں مسلسل اضافہ ہو رہا ہے۔ رواں سال کے ابتدائی چار ماہ میں اوسطاً ہر ماہ تقریباً 190 حملے ریکارڈ کیے گئے، جس کے باعث سال کے اختتام تک ان حملوں کی تعداد 2,000 سے تجاوز کرنے کا خدشہ ہے۔ یہ صورتحال شہریوں کے جان و مال، بنیادی حقوق اور انسانی وقار کے لیے نہایت سنگین خطرہ بن چکی ہے۔

مصدقہ اطلاعات کے مطابق جولائی کے اواخر تک آبادکاروں سے متعلق حملوں میں کم از کم 18 فلسطینی جان کی بازی ہار چکے تھے، جبکہ اس کے بعد بھی تشدد کا سلسلہ جاری رہا۔ مختلف رپورٹس میں فلسطینی آبادیوں پر حملوں، گھروں اور عبادت گاہوں کو نذرِ آتش کرنے، زرعی اراضی اور املاک کو نقصان پہنچانے یا قبضے میں لینے، اور نقل و حرکت پر سخت پابندیوں کے باعث صحت، تعلیم، روزگار اور دیگر بنیادی سہولیات تک رسائی میں شدید رکاوٹوں کی نشاندہی کی گئی ہے۔ نئی بستیوں اور چوکیوں کی توسیع نے بھی کشیدگی اور انسانی بحران کو مزید گہرا کیا ہے۔

During the first four months of this year, an average of approximately 190 attacks were recorded each month, raising fears that the total number of incidents could exceed 2,000 by the end of the year. This alarming trend poses a grave threat to civilian lives, property, fundamental rights, and human dignity.

Verified reports indicate that by late July, at least 18 Palestinians had lost their lives in incidents linked to settler violence, with further attacks continuing thereafter. International reports have documented assaults on Palestinian communities, the burning of homes and places of worship, damage to or seizure of agricultural land and other property, and severe restrictions on freedom of movement. These measures have significantly hindered access to healthcare, education, employment, and other essential services. The continued expansion of settlements and outposts has further intensified tensions and deepened the humanitarian crisis.

انٹرنیشنل ہیومن رائٹس موومنٹ کے چیئرمین رانا بشارت علی خاں نے غزہ اور مقبوضہ مغربی کنارے میں جاری انسانی بحران پر گہری تشویش کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ شہریوں کا تحفظ بین الاقوامی قانون کے تحت ایک بنیادی ذمہ داری ہے اور ہر انسانی جان کا ہر حال میں احترام کیا جانا چاہیے۔

حالیہ بین الاقوامی رپورٹس کے مطابق اکتوبر 2025 میں ہونے والی جنگ بندی کے بعد سے غزہ میں ایک ہزار ایک سو سے زائد فلسطینیوں کی ہلاکت کی اطلاعات سامنے آئی ہیں۔ حالیہ دنوں میں بھی جاری فوجی کارروائیوں، مسلسل نقل مکانی، انسانی امداد تک محدود رسائی، اور طبی مراکز پر بڑھتے ہوئے دباؤ کے باعث مزید جانی نقصان کی اطلاعات موصول ہوئی ہیں، جس سے شہری آبادی کی مشکلات میں مزید اضافہ ہوا ہے۔

Reports Indicate More Than 1,000 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Strikes, Humanitarian Crisis Deepens in Gaza and Violence Escalates in the West Bank, Says Rana Basharat Ali Khan
The Chairman of the International Human Rights Movement (IHRM), Rana Basharat Ali Khan, has expressed deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, stating that the protection of civilians is a fundamental obligation under international law and that every human life must be respected under all circumstances.
According to recent international reports, more than 1,100 Palestinians have reportedly been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire reached in October 2025. In recent days, further casualties have been reported as a result of continuing military operations, repeated displacement, restricted access to humanitarian assistance, and increasing pressure on medical facilities, further worsening the suffering of the civilian population.
Rana Basharat Ali Khan stated that the protection of civilians, medical facilities, educational institutions, and essential infrastructure is a fundamental requirement of international humanitarian law. Violence against civilians, forced displacement, and obstacles to the delivery of humanitarian aid raise serious human rights concerns. He stressed that all parties must fulfil their legal obligations and place the protection of civilians at the forefront of their responsibilities.
He also expressed concern over the escalating violence in the occupied West Bank, where approximately 55 per cent of reported Palestinian injury incidents during 2026 have been linked to settler attacks. Rana Basharat Ali Khan emphasised that respect for the rule of law is indispensable for achieving peace and stability.
Rana Basharat Ali Khan called upon the international community to take practical measures to uphold universal human rights principles, ensure the safety of civilians, facilitate the unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance, and strengthen the effective implementation of international law. He stated that every individual has the fundamental right to life, security, and to live with dignity.
