Effective Action Decided Against Private Educational Institutions on the Directions of the worthy Deputy Commissioner/Administrator, District Education Authority, Sahiwal
On the directions of the worthy Deputy Commissioner/Administrator, District Education Authority (DEA) Sahiwal an important meeting was held under the supervision of Mr. Mian Muhammad Khalid Alam, Chief Executive Officer, District Education Authority Sahiwal and Syed Kazim Hussain Shah District Monitoring Officer, Sahiwal. The meeting was attended by all District Education Officers (DEOs) and Deputy District Education Officers (Dy. DEOs) of the district to review the registration status of private educational institutions, safety arrangements and compliance with legal requirements.
During the meeting, it was decided that a comprehensive survey of all registered and unregistered private schools, academies and tuition centres across the district would be conducted. For this purpose, survey teams comprising Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) will be constituted at the Markwz level. During the survey, each institution's photographs, GPS location, registration status, building condition, electrical wiring, fire safety arrangements and other safety measures will be thoroughly checked.
The meeting further directed that WhatsApp groups be established to ensure effective coordination among the survey teams so that all information, photographs and location details can be shared promptly.
It was also decided to immediately seal the 70 unregistered private schools that had already been identified. In addition, a public list of these institutions will be shared to create awareness among parents and discourage them from enrolling their children in unregistered institutions.
Similarly, seven private schools whose buildings have already been declared unsafe or where hazardous electrical wiring, inadequate fire safety arrangements or other serious safety risks exist, will be sealed immediately and proceedings will be initiated to cancel their registrations.
The meeting also made it clear that, in future, no Building Fitness Certificate will be issued to any private educational institution without physical verification by the building department Furthermore, the registration of new private schools, academies,l and tuition centres will only be processed in accordance with the prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the School Education Department, Punjab.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chairs directed all concerned officers to take impartial and strict action against unregistered educational institutions, unsafe buildings, defective electrical wiring, inadequate fire safety arrangements and all institutions violating prescribed safety regulations, so as to ensure that students are provided with a safe, quality and legally compliant educational environment.
