Livelihood Support Scheme for Widows
*Organized by Mohammadzai Qaumi Ettihad (MQE)*
1. *Introduction*
Mohammadzai Qaumi Ettihad (MQE), a social welfare organization dedicated to community upliftment, is launching a Livelihood Support Scheme for Widows. This initiative aims to empower extremely poor and helpless widows by providing them with sustainable income-generating opportunities, enabling them to live with dignity and financial independence.
2. *Objectives*
To economically empower widows from underprivileged backgrounds
To provide skill development through professional training
To promote self-reliance and reduce dependency on charity
To create a cycle of community support by encouraging beneficiaries to train others
3. *Project Components*
a. Beneficiary Identification
Widows will be selected through a transparent, merit-based process
Field surveys and community verification will be conducted
Priority will be given to widows with no stable source of income
b. Skills Training
Selected beneficiaries will receive free professional training in tailoring and stitching
Training will be conducted by qualified instructors
Duration: 1–3 months (depending on skill level)
c. Equipment Support
Each selected widow will receive:
One modern sewing machine.
d. A solar power system to ensure uninterrupted work without reliance on electricity
4. *Financial Model (Qarz-e-Hasna)*
a. Assistance will be provided as a Qarz-e-Hasna (interest-free loan)
b. Grace Period: 1 year (no repayments required)
c.Repayment: Easy monthly instalments after the grace period
d. Recovered funds will be reinvested to support additional widows
5. *Beneficiary Responsibilities*
Each beneficiary will be required to:
a. Sign an agreement not to sell or transfer the sewing machine or solar system until full repayment
b.Provide a stamped personal guarantee
c. Train at least two additional deserving widows, promoting a multiplier effect
d. Use the equipment solely for income-generating purposes
6.*Transparency & Governance*
a. The entire process will be monitored and supervised by the Mohammadzai National Union Committee
b. Proper documentation and record-keeping will be maintained
c. Regular audits and progress reports will be conducted
d. Community representatives will be involved to ensure fairness and accountability
7. *Implementation Strategy*
