Exercise Bison Drawsko has ended . All soldiers have returned to their home bases in Germany, Estonia, Belgium, the USA, Canada, Poland and the Netherlands. A last message to all participants from Force commander Brigadier General Jan Swillens.

Also Russian media were interested to report about exercise Bison Drawsko 2017, in this case RTVi, a Berlin-based Russian Broadcasting Company, with target audiences in Russia, United States, Germany and Israel.

Opinion show where a European Army was discussed. The footage shot at exercise Bison Drawsko demonstrate the international cooperation. The reporter states that the exercise is in response of the enhanced Russian threat. He adds that Bison Drawsko is the first exercise this large and so close tot he Russian border in 15 years President Poetin states that on the Russian side there’s no enhanced threat toward A German soldier of Panzerbataiilon 414 tells about the German-Netherlands cooperation, and about the fact that the training during the exercise was with mixed crews.

One of the largest exercises in 15 years - Bison Drawsko 2017 - of the Royal Netherlands Army has come to an end. All vehicles are heading back to the Netherlands, where they will arrive later this week. When they are back in the Netherlands it's time for maintenance!

PRODUCING 1.000.000 LITER OF CLEAN DRINKING WATER

1.000.000 LITER SCHOON DRINKWATER.

Eén miljoen liter drinkwater produceren onder winterse omstandigheden is geen kleinigheid, het is zelfs van levensbelang. 240 Dienstencompagnie heeft inmiddels 1 miljoen liter schoon drinkwater geproduceerd in de oefening Bison Drawsko 2017 in Polen.

Ondanks het extreem koude weer en materieel dat al enige tijd aan vernieuwing toe is, is het ze gelukt om in zes weken tijd enorme hoeveelheden vuil water te zuiveren tot het schoon en drinkbaar is.

Met de Mobiele Drinkwaterinstallatie wordt vanuit een meer 3500 liter schoon water per uur geproduceerd. Vervolgens wordt het opgeslagen in bulkcontainers van 10.000 liter en vervoerd naar diverse afnemers.

De belangrijkste afnemer is de Role 2 (het militaire hospitaal) van 400 Geneeskundig Bataljon; Zonder schoon water kunnen er geen medische ingrepen worden uitgevoerd.

Verder verbruikt de mobiele Bad/Was-installatie een volle bulkcontainer (10.000 liter) per uur als alle douches aanstaan. Ook de MSK’s (militaire keukens) hebben water nodig. De militairen eten diepvriesmaaltijden die met behulp van stoom klaar gemaakt worden. Hiervoor is per keuken zo’n 2000 liter per drie dagen benodigd.

Traditioneel wordt er bij die miljoenste liter water stilgestaan . Op 15 februari was dat het geval. Commandant Bevoorrading en Transport Commando kreeg uit handen van sgt1 de Rooij, plaatsvervangend pelotonscommandant van het MDM-peloton, een fles met daarin de miljoenste liter drinkwater. Proost!

FIRE POWER DEMONSTRATION
The exercise Bison Drawsko 2017 came to an end with a fire power demonstration. The demonstration provides a clear picture of the complexity of joint combined arms operations in a multinational brigade context. During this exercise together we stood and together we shielded. Therefore together we trained.
The fire power demonstration was attended by VIP’s from the participating countries.
