• Commanding the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) and NATO Response Force or their elements if deplo
yed in the north-eastern region of NATO;
• Operational Control of the four NATO Force Integration Units in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and soon Slovakia and Hungary;
• Monitoring the security situation in the region;
• Being a regional hub for cooperation and coordination of military activities. Being in the transition process to Headquarters of higher readiness, its first command elements can be deployed for missions within less than 2 weeks in the north-eastern region of NATO. Having completed “Saber Strike 2017”, Multinational Corps Northeast confirmed its 24/7 readiness to command and control NATO high-readiness forces if deployed to north-eastern Europe. From now on, Multinational Corps Northeast serves as a rapidly deployable High-Readiness Forces Headquarters and is on permanent stand-by to take the lead in combat operations across the north-eastern flank of NATO as a Land Component Command.
