Vintage Kodachrome. With a glacial ISO of only 64 and no camera or lens stabilisation, you really had to be steady. Especially in a moving plane after sunset!

Kilka tygodni później, oszalały z bólu, samotności i beznadziei, wykrzyknął: „Zaprzedam duszę diabłu, jeśli ten koszmar się skończy!” Wtedy z cienia pobliskiego drzewa wyszedł mężczyzna z dwoma dzbanami w dłoniach: jeden był z krwią, a drugi z mlekiem. Powoli podszedł do małego śródlądowego jeziora na wyspie i powiedział:

W XVII wieku na wodach otaczających wyspę statek wpadł w silny sztorm i zatonął. Jedyny ocalały marynarz został wyrzucony na niezamieszkałe tereny. Walka z żywiołami poważnie go zraniła. Ze względu na połamane kończyny każdy ruch sprawiał marynarzowi ból, a wydobywanie pokarmu stało się torturą.

Lake Hillier is located on the very edge of the Middle Island, it is separated from the ocean only by a small strip of eucalyptus trees surrounding the reservoir from all sides. The evergreen trees provide a great contrast to the landscape, especially against the backdrop of the pink lake.

Unlike other colored lakes in the world, such as Retba in Senegal and the salt waters in San Francisco Bay, the origin of Lake Hillier's pink color has not been unequivocally proven.

Jezioro Hillier jest jedyne w swoim rodzaju. Co roku przyjeżdżają do niego podróżnicy z różnych krajów, aby upewnić się, że woda jest naprawdę nienaturalnie różowa, nawet wlewana do osobnego naczynia, i podziwiać to dzieło natury.

Hillier is the most unusual lake in Australia and perhaps the most amazing in the world. Its main feature is the pink color of the water. The lake is located in the southwest of Australia, on Sredny Island, one of the 105 small islands that make up the Exploration archipelago. On the edges of the Pink Lake is surrounded by sand and eucalyptus forest.
