Today, August 1, marks the 82th Anniversary of the .

At 17:00, the nation remembers the courage shown in 1944, when at 17:00, ‘’W’’ hour the Polish Home Army rose against the occupying n**i power in a courageous attempt to liberate Warsaw. The uprising lasted for 63 days and became a symbol of the Polish nation’s free will and invincibility in its fight for freedom, sovereignty and dignity.

Over 200,000 Poles, many of them civilians, including many women lost their lives in this heroic battle. Despite the unequal force conditions and devastating losses, the Uprising remains an inspiring example of resilience and sacrifice by the Polish nation.

On the eve, a ceremonial field Mass, attended amongst others by the few remaining insurgents, took place under the Warsaw Uprising Monument on Krasiński Square in Warsaw. The Embassy of Malta was represented by Deputy Head of Mission, Rebecca Galea, who also laid a wreath at the foot of the monument in remembrance. 🇵🇱🇲🇹
