Please join us in welcoming 𝐃𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧, 𝐋𝐂𝐒𝐖, a licensed clinical social worker, community leader, and the tenth author to join our growing international publishing community.

His forthcoming memoir, 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝: 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲, begins with a frightened little boy in Watts, California. Through his experiences in the Los Angeles County system, emancipation, and the years that followed, Derric invites readers into a journey of hope, healing, and transformation.

Before the professional credentials, there was a person learning how to move forward. Now, Derric is bringing that story to the page, with the hope that someone else might find the courage to begin their own next chapter.

A reader may recognize an experience they have never been able to explain. Someone may feel less alone. Another may discover that the future still holds possibilities worth pursuing.

For me, this welcome carries personal significance. Derric was my student when I taught at the 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒏 𝑪𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒂 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌. Today, I welcome him as an accomplished professional, leader, and author whose experience will deepen my own understanding.

Now, the student becomes the professor, and the professor becomes the student. I am ready to learn from him.

Today, we proudly recognize 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞́ 𝐘𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧̃𝐞𝐳 𝐀𝐠𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐨, 𝐌𝐒𝐖, 𝐂𝐌𝐇𝐄, 𝐏𝐡𝐃(𝐜), a featured presenter at the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐅𝐅𝐂𝐀 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, whose groundbreaking research has been published in the Spring 2026 NAPSW FORUM.
