🎧 BOOK 96 OF 2026 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“I have just committed the perfect murder. You have one week to catch me…” 🔪

That was enough to get me hooked on Game of Nines.

A serial killer. A murder puzzle that has baffled law enforcement for decades. One week to catch him before he disappears and strikes again nine years later. 👀

The audio drama format was SO good. 🎭🎧 Shailene Woodley, Morena Baccarin and Dolby Atmos made the action feel immediate, almost as if I was inside the investigation.

But 3h27? I needed MORE. 😩

More murders.
More investigation.
More of the killer’s story.
And definitely more time for those final revelations.

The ending felt rushed. Give me another two hours and this might have been a 5⭐️ listen.

Would you prefer 3½ hours of fast-paced thriller or another two hours to properly explore the case? 👇

🎧 Reading 95 of the year

After all the murder, serial killers and dark thrillers, I thought I needed a rom-com break. 😂💕
Turns out I did.
Just… not quite THIS much romance. 🌶️😂

A Very Good Bad Idea by Emma Chase gave me all the clichés, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, romantic mushiness and considerably more spice than I needed.

Not my genre at all, but I’ll give it this: it did exactly what I wanted. It gave me a complete break from crime. 🎧

And if spicy rom-coms are your thing? This might be exactly your kind of book. 💗

🚨 Esta é, sem dúvida, uma das trilogias de crime que mais gostava de ver publicada em Portugal. O mais depressa possível!

Nem os meus autores favoritos de thrillers conseguiram, até hoje, levar-me a dar ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ aos três livros da mesma trilogia. Jack Heath conseguiu.

Acompanhamos a detetive Kiara Lui e Elise ao longo dos três livros. As personagens evoluem de forma natural, os casos ligam-se sem perder autonomia e cada história acrescenta novas camadas à anterior.

São thrillers de leitura rápida, cheios de mistério, tensão e reviravoltas que nos fazem duvidar de tudo e de todos. Quando pensamos que já percebemos o que aconteceu… o autor muda completamente o rumo da história.

Gostava muito de ver uma editora portuguesa apostar nesta trilogia. A editora australiana Allen & Unwin já tem os livros no seu catálogo. F**a a sugestão. 😉

Kill Your Boss by Jack Heath ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

And that’s the trilogy finished! 🎧

Three books later and I’m still completely hooked on Kiara Lui and the chaos that seems to follow her everywhere. 😂

This time, Kiara is breaking up a fight outside Warrigal Public Library when a man literally falls from the sky right in front of her. The victim is the library boss, Neville Adams.

And the problem? Pretty much everyone hated him. 👀

He made life miserable for his staff, everyone seems to have a motive, and figuring out who wanted him dead isn’t exactly easy.

Multiple murders, multiple suspects, plenty of twists, constant danger and a fast-moving investigation. This series has kept me hooked from the first book to the last. 🔪🕵️‍♀️

My only complaint? I missed Elise! ❤️ She’s much less present in this one, and I love her dynamic with Kiara.

Three books.
Three 5-star ratings. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One seriously addictive crime series.

🎧 Reading 93 of the year

Jack Heath has done it again.
I went straight from Kill Your Brother to Kill Your Husbands, and I couldn’t stop listening. Three couples. One isolated mountain retreat. One reckless decision. Then the lights come back on… and one of them is dead.

Every character has something to hide, every chapter changes what you think you know, and every twist makes you question everything.

Senior Constable Kiara Lui is quickly becoming one of my favourite detectives, and I’m already listening to the third and final book in the trilogy.

👉🏻If you enjoy fast-paced psychological thrillers with plenty of twists, this Audible Original is well worth your time.

★★★★★

Jack Heath has done it again.

Kill Your Brother is an intense crime thriller packed with twists, difficult choices and a story that kept me hooked from beginning to end.

I managed to work out one of the killers, although only quite late in the book. The second reveal completely caught me by surprise, which made the ending even more satisfying.

I also loved returning to Detective Kiara. Her story continues to grow with every book, and I didn’t even wait to finish this review before starting Book 2, Kill Your Husbands. 🎧📚

If you enjoy fast-paced crime thrillers with unexpected twists and Audible Originals, I’d definitely recommend this one.

🎧 Leitura 91 de 2026

Acabei de ouvir As Pessoas Invisíveis, de José Carlos Barros, vencedor do Prémio LeYa 2021, no Kobo Plus.

Foi uma leitura que me deixou com sentimentos contraditórios.

O livro percorre várias décadas da história de Portugal, desde o Estado Novo até aos anos 80, passando pela Guerra Colonial e pela independência das ex colónias portuguesas.

O primeiro terço não me conquistou. A parte centrada nas superstições, nos curandeiros e nos falsos milagres acabou por não me envolver.
Depois chegou o segundo terço… e tudo mudou. Foi, sem dúvida, a melhor parte do romance. Gostei muito da forma como o autor retrata o Ultramar e alguns episódios da nossa História que continuam pouco conhecidos.
Infelizmente, o final voltou a perder força. Achei-o demasiado abrupto e fiquei com a sensação de que faltavam algumas páginas para dar um melhor enquadramento ao desfecho.

A escrita de José Carlos Barros merece destaque, mas apenas uma das três partes me conquistou verdadeiramente.

🌊🎧 Book 89 of 2026

I’ve finished The Cove by LJ Ross, the second book in the Summer Suspense Mysteries series, and I enjoyed it even more than the first.

This isn’t only a crime novel. It also explores the long-lasting effects of domestic abuse and emotional manipulation with sensitivity, while delivering a gripping investigation and plenty of tension.

I thought the storyline was stronger, the emotional depth added real weight to the characters, and I was invested from beginning to end.

I’ve now read the first two books in the series and I’m definitely continuing. 📚
