Shahaniyah al Shahaniya is a muncipality(3289 km2) and urban locality (city) by the same name (287km2) in Qatar.Shahaniya is the main stage for the camel race.

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment was slapped with a hefty fine of QR13m for causing the death of a Qatari man’s racing camels.Gulf Times reported that a Doha Court asked the fine to be paid after it was proven that the camels had died after being sprayed with toxic insecticides.
