Bathymetric LiDAR Specialist Vacancy
The Center of GIS is seeking a skilled LiDAR Analyst with specialized experience in bathymetric LiDAR technology to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of LiDAR data processing, analysis, and a specific focus on bathymetric applications. You will be responsible for processing, analyzing, and interpreting LiDAR data for various projects, particularly those involving underwater topography and hydrographic surveying.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or higher degree in a related field such as geospatial science, remote sensing, or geomatics.
Proven experience as a LiDAR analyst with a focus on bathymetric applications.
Proficiency in LiDAR data processing software (e.g., TerraScan, Fledermaus, CARIS HIPS and SIPS, LAS tools, RiHYDRO) and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, Global Mapper).
Strong understanding of geospatial concepts, coordinate systems, and data integration.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience with hydrographic surveying and knowledge of marine geomatics is a plus.
Understanding of IHO standards and specifications
Willing to re-locate to Qatar
Minimum 5 years’ experience in bathymetric projects
Key Responsibilities:
Data Processing:
Manage and process LiDAR data collected from both airborne and terrestrial systems.
Conduct quality control assessments to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data.
Convert and merge bathymetric LiDAR data with other geospatial datasets, such as topographic or hydrographic data.
Bathymetric LiDAR Analysis:
Analyze bathymetric LiDAR data to create underwater elevation models, identify submerged features, and measure seabed depths.
Extract relevant information to support coastal engineering, navigation, and environmental projects.
GIS Integration:
Integrate LiDAR data into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to create 3D visualizations and geospatial analysis.
Develop GIS models and tools for further analysis and visualization of the data.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare detailed reports, maps, and charts summarizing the findings from LiDAR data analysis.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of data processing and analysis methods.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with other geospatial professionals, hydrographers, and surveyors to ensure seamless data integration and analysis.
Communicate and present findings to project teams and clients.
