Karim Morcos, Ambassador of Canada to the State of Qatar, was pleased to meet with H.E. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the State of Qatar, to review progress since the signing of the Canada-Qatar MOU on communications and information technology earlier this year.

Their discussions focused on advancing cooperation in research and innovation, AI, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, digital policy, and startup ecosystems, while fostering stronger links between our private sectors, investors, and technology leaders.

The meeting also looked ahead to upcoming technology events in Canada and Qatar, creating new opportunities for partnership and collaboration.

The MOU was not the destination, it was the starting point. Canada and Qatar are committed to transforming shared ambitions into tangible outcomes that drive innovation, investment, and sustainable growth.

Yesterday, Min. Anand spoke with H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and expressed her condolences on the passing of the Father Amir, H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, whose vision helped shape Qatar’s development.
Min. Anand discussed the situation in the Middle East, reaffirmed Canada's support for Qatar's sovereignty and security, called for an end to Iran's attacks, and emphasized the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz to ensure navigation rights and regional stability.
