The Philippine Embassy in Bucharest, Romania facilitated
the introductory meeting (virtual) between the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (GDAP) and the Romanian Game Developers Association (GDAP) on 22 May 2026.

First Secretary and Consul Siegfred Masangkay, with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center-Berlin’s (PITC) head, Commercial Counsellor Nicanor Bautista, led the meeting. GDAP was represented by Ms. Ria Lu, GDAP President and Ms.Alexis Geronga, Director of Industry Development. On the other hand, RGDA was
represented by Mr. Luca Onică, Public Affairs Officer.

Mr. Masangkay, in popular gaming parlance, encouraged the two groups to “understand each other’s builds and explore ways the two organizations could co-op and party up on.” He also expressed hopes for stronger, more connected games industry between the Philippines and Romania.

The two organizations each gave a snapshot of their respective organization’s profile, programs, targets, and country game development ecosystem. The two organizations also affirmed that they are keen on building cross-border partnerships to foster growth, improved talent pipelines, and share best practices.
GDAP shared with RGDA its major trade events and trade missions abroad, as well as extended an invitation to the latter to join/attend the upcoming Philippine Game Development Expo (PGDX) to be held in Manila in July 2026. The two groups expressed their eagerness for a meetup at the sidelines of the Gamescom 2026
trade fair event in Cologne in August 2026.

Bucharest PE and PTIC-Berlin also repeated its pitch – the Philippines as an emerging games production powerhouse and readiness to be a global collaborator in game development. Likewise, it was highlighted that the local gaming market is large
and monetization potential is high, and the Philippines can be a strategic hub of operations for foreign investors/collaborators in the Southeast Asian and Asia-Pacific region. END

Ambassador Noel Servigon, accompanied by First Secretary and Consul Siegfred Masangkay, handed over vibrant tourism promotion posters to two Filipino restaurants in Bucharest on 26 May 2026.

The tourism promotion effort takes on the idea of “loved the food, come see and experience where it all began.” MaPa Fusion Restaurant and Sam’s Fusion Restaurant, two Filipino restaurants in
Bucharest, each received high-quality posters showcasing some of the Philippines’ most iconic landmarks and natural landscapes. The posters aim to inspire curiosity and encourage travel among diners and visitors in the two participating establishments.

The high-quality photos used for the posters were provided by the Department of Tourism Office (DOT) in Frankfurt, Germany. Included in the posters are QR codes linking interested parties to interesting Philippine tourism promotion and information
pages and sites of the DOT.

The Filipino proprietors welcomed the initiative enthusiastically, giving them an opportunity to help promote tourism to their home country. The participating restaurants will display the posters prominently in their dining areas.

There is a growing curiosity, following and appreciation of Filipino cuisine among the local communities. These restaurants often receive tourism related queries and request for recommendations from their diners.

The initiative of the Philippine Embassy’s broader effort to foster tourism destination awareness, public diplomacy agenda, and deepen cultural appreciation within the host country’s communities. END
