🇪🇪 🤝 🇷🇴 Regional visits always bring discoveries, inspiring people and new opportunities for cooperation.

During the Estonian Ambassador’s visit to Tulcea and Constanța counties, the focus was on tourism, education, digitalization, and cultural cooperation.

A heartfelt thank you to the Honorary Consul of Estonia in Constanța, Alexandru Bobe for putting together such a meaningful and engaging programme! 👏

Special thanks also to:
✨ Răzvan Filipescu, Vice President of Constanța County Council, for the warm and productive discussions;
✨ Anamaria Mișa, General Manager of the beautifully restored Constanța Casino, for the inspiring tour of this architectural jewel on the Black Sea coast;
✨ Corina Martin, Secretary General of the Romanian Accommodation and Catering Employers’ Federation and President of RESTO Constanța, for the excellent support during the visit to Tulcea and the Danube Delta;

Heartfelt congratulations to Romania 🇷🇴 and to Director Cristian Mungiu for winning the prestigious Palme d’Or 🏆 at the Festival de Cannes yesterday with “Fjord”! 🌊🎥

But, a very special round of applause from us goes to an 🇪🇪Estonian living in Romania🇷🇴, Ingrid Cristea Vendelin who worked as Assistant Director on this remarkable film. Bravo! 👏✨

Ingrid, who is also 🇪🇪Honorary Consul in Romania, shared a few beautiful moments from her time in the breathtaking 🇳🇴 fjords, captured during quieter moments away from the intensity of filming 🎬.

And yes… the adorable dog 🐶 on one of the photos is actually one of the film’s stars! 🌟

🇪🇪 Estonian President Alar Karis participated in B9 and Nordic Allies Summit in Bucharest 🇷🇴 today. The leaders discussed strengthening cooperation on security and defence across the entire NATO Eastern Flank. The leaders met also with Ukrainian 🇺🇦 president Volodomyr Zelenskyy and issued a joint statement ( link in comments).

Täna möödub 105 aastat päevast, mil Rumeenia tunnustas Eesti Vabariiki 𝑑𝑒 𝑗𝑢𝑟𝑒, pannes aluse ametlikule diplomaatilisele suhtlusele.

26. veebruaril 1921 teavitas Rumeenia suursaadik Taanis Mihail Pâclianu Kopenhaagenis Eesti konsulit Edmund Kinkmanni Rumeenia otsusest tunnustada Eestit 𝑑𝑒 𝑗𝑢𝑟𝑒 . Rumeenia avas oma saatkonna Tallinnas 1935. aastal, kus see tegutses kuni 1939. aastani. Diplomaatiline kohalolek taastati aastakümneid hiljem: Eesti avas oma saatkonna Bukarestis 2015. aastal ning sellele järgnes Rumeenia saatkonna taasavamine Tallinnas 2016. aastal.

Viimase 105 aasta jooksul on Eesti ja Rumeenia vahel loodud lähedased ja usalduslikud suhted, mis põhinevad vastastikusel austusel, ühistel Euroopa väärtustel ja tugeval partnerlusel. Täna teeme aktiivset koostööd Euroopa Liidus ja NATO-s ning vaatame kindlalt tulevikku, kus kahe riigi koostöö kaitse-, äri-, digitaliseerimise ja kultuurivaldkonnas veelgi kasvab.

Tänavu 13. septembril tähistame ka teist olulist tähtpäeva - 35 aasta möödumist Eesti ja Rumeenia diplomaatiliste suhete taastamisest.

Today marks 105 years since Romania granted 𝑑𝑒 𝑗𝑢𝑟𝑒 recognition to the Republic of Estonia, laying the foundation for official diplomatic relations.

On 26 February 1921, the Romanian Ambassador to Denmark, Mihail Pâclianu, informed the Estonian Consul Edmund Kinkmann in Copenhagen of Romania’s decision to recognize Estonia 𝑑𝑒 𝑗𝑢𝑟𝑒. Romania opened its embassy in Tallinn in 1935, where it operated until 1939. Diplomatic presence was renewed decades later, with Estonia opening its embassy in Bucharest in 2015, followed by Romania reopening its embassy in Tallinn in 2016.

Over the past 105 years, Estonia and Romania have developed close and trusted relations grounded in mutual respect, shared European values, and a strong partnership. Today, we actively cooperate in the European Union and NATO and look confidently to a future where cooperation between the two countries in the fields of defense, business, digitalization, and culture will continue to grow.

Later this year, on 13 September, we will also mark another important milestone - 35 years since the restoration of diplomatic relations between Estonia and Romania.

💙🖤🤍 24. veebruaril oli saatkonnas eriline õhtu, sest tähistasime koos Eesti kogukonnaga meie armsa Eesti 108. sünnipäeva. Samuti täitub 26. veebruaril Eesti - Rumeenia diplomaatiliste suhete loomisest 105. aastat. Põhjust rõõmustada oli seega küllaga.

Nagu pidupäevale kohane, kõlas hümn, kuulati ja peeti kõnesid. Suurepäraseid Eesti maitseid pakkus restorani 🇪🇪 peakokk Eduard Kisseljov 👏.

Mängisime ka Eesti mängu, kus sõbralikus konkurentsis võtsid mõõtu meeskonnad Sinine, Must ja Valge 💙🖤🤍.
Oli just selline pidu, nagu üks õige sünnipäev olema peab.
