🇪🇪Exactly 35 years ago today, Estonia took a decisive step toward its future. On August 20, 1991, we restored our national independence, bringing decades of foreign occupation to an end. At this critical juncture, then-Minister of Foreign Affairs Lennart Meri played a vital role through his swift action and extraordinary diplomatic efforts to secure international support. It was a triumph of the people's unwavering will, unity, and courage—reclaiming Estonia’s rightful place among the free nations of the world. Today, we celebrate a freedom we will never take for granted.🇪🇪

Valged ööd hoiavad meid ärkvel, et me ei unustaks, kust me tuleme ja kuhu me koos läheme.

🔥 Midsummer - when the light won’t stay quiet 🔥

There’s something magical about Estonia’s white nights.
They make everything feel a little louder, a little truer, just like R**t Kromel says: you simply can’t stay silent. And honestly, neither can we.

Across the world, every Estonian seems to gather around their own little midsummer fire.
In Silicon Valley, people are already dreaming up LEP 2026.
In London, Soome, Toronto and Melbourne our language and stories keep glowing.
We remember the past, we carry the songs, we keep the connections alive even when the distances are long.

Midsummer reminds us that Estonia lives in all of us.
In our voices, in our memories, in our children, in our way to stay connected.
One fire, many places and a night so bright, it refuses to let us forget who we are.

🏳️‍🌈Declarație comună cu ocazia Bucharest Pride 2026

🏳️‍🌈Joint Statement on the Occasion of Bucharest Pride 2026

On the occasion of Bucharest Pride 2026, we, the undersigned diplomatic missions in Bucharest, reaffirm our strong and unwavering support for the 🌈 LGBTIQ+ community in 🇷🇴 Romania.

This year’s Bucharest Pride takes place under the theme “ALL OF US”, a powerful reminder that 🤝 equality, dignity, and human rights belong to everyone. It is a call for unity, solidarity, and inclusion at a time when divisions, prejudice, and exclusion continue to affect many communities across Europe and beyond. 🌍

Bucharest Pride 2026 also coincides with the 30th anniversary of ACCEPT, Romania’s first and longest-standing LGBTIQ+ organisation. We recognise three decades of activism, advocacy, community-building, and courage 💬that have contributed significantly to advancing equality and human rights in Romania. We also recognise the work of other civil society organisations and activists across Romania that promote the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community. As partners and allies, we stand in solidarity with all those working to build a society where every person can live openly, safely, and with dignity. We recognise the diversity that exists within the LGBTIQ+ community and affirm that inclusion 🫶 must embrace all people, regardless of s*xual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, s*x characteristics, disability, ethnicity, religion, age, or any other status.

We also express our appreciation and support for the Pride 🌈 events taking place across the country—in Brașov, Cluj, Iași, Oradea, and Timișoara. These regional Prides play a vital role in strengthening local communities, promoting visibility, and ensuring that the promise of equality reaches every corner of Romania. Their growing presence demonstrates that the aspiration for dignity, freedom, and belonging is shared by people throughout the country.

We recall that the human rights of LGBTIQ+ persons are firmly protected under European Union 🇪🇺 law and international 🌍 human rights treaties. The European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union have repeatedly affirmed these rights, including protection against discrimination, legal recognition of families, and accessible gender recognition procedures. These judgments are binding and must be implemented in full, in each and every Member State of the European Union and of the Council of Europe.

We commend 👏 the organisers, volunteers, community members, and allies who continue to make Bucharest Pride a vibrant celebration of diversity and a platform for dialogue, visibility, and democratic participation. Through their efforts, Pride has become not only a celebration, but also an expression of civic engagement and hope for a more inclusive future. We also acknowledge the challenges that remain. Disinformation, hate speech, discrimination, and the rise of extremist ideas continue to threaten the safety and dignity of LGBTIQ+ people around the world. Addressing these challenges requires leadership, solidarity, and a steadfast commitment to democratic values and human rights.

The theme “ALL OF US” reminds us that the pursuit of equality is never the responsibility of a single community alone. It is a shared endeavour that benefits society as a whole. Democracies are strongest when every person is able to participate fully and freely in public life, without fear of discrimination or exclusion.

We remain committed to supporting the LGBTIQ+ community and all those in Romania who strive for a society rooted in equality, justice, diversity, and human rights for all.

Ediția din acest an a Bucharest Pride are loc sub tema ALL OF US, o reamintire puternică a faptului că 🤝 egalitatea, demnitatea și drepturile omului aparțin tuturor.

Motto-ul “ALL OF US” ne reamintește că lupta pentru egalitate nu este niciodată responsabilitatea unei singure comunități.
