Just hours after the US President’s peace envoys left Kyiv, Russia launched another large-scale attack on Ukraine's capital and several other regions of Ukraine.

The strikes on Kyiv killed at least two people and injured at least ten others. The capital suffered significant damage to residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure.

Critical infrastructure was hit in Kyiv region, while in Odesa region, Russia struck an ordinary market. Two people were injured in Kharkiv, where an apartment building was damaged. In Sumy region, a railway locomotive was attacked at a station this morning. Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro regions also came under attack.

Ukrainian defenders destroyed 175 aerial targets overnight, but not all threats could be stopped. Ballistic missiles remain particularly difficult to intercept. Ukraine continues to raise the urgent need for more interceptors with our American and European partners.

Further meetings are taking place today with countries and companies that can help strengthen Ukraine’s air defence and support our FREYJA anti-ballistic system.

Support the fundraiser for 10 fully equipped ambulances for Ukraine!

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has joined the UNITED24 campaign launched with former astronaut, EMT and UNITED24 ambassador Scott Kelly to raise $1.2 million for 10 modern ambulances.

Ukrainian medics work under fire and travel through damaged roads to evacuate the wounded. Russian forces also target evacuation teams, including when they are helping civilians or heavily wounded soldiers.

Unlike standard ambulances, armoured evacuation vehicles are built to withstand enemy fire. They are faster and more agile, helping medics reach the wounded quickly and safely. More protection means more lives saved.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on the situation on the battlefield and why Russia is not in a strong position:
"Here are a few independently verified figures about the frontline dynamics, showing that Russia is not winning and will not win this war.
🔹 According to open sources, the net balance between areas occupied by Russia and those liberated by Ukraine in August 2026 was roughly +5 square kilometers. While the figure is approximate, the trend is clear. Meanwhile, Moscow lost at least 42,000 troops killed and wounded – one of its highest monthly casualty rates of the war.
🔹 Open-source data shows that in August 2026 alone, in response to Russian attacks, there were a record 70 successful Ukrainian long-range sanctions against legitimate military targets in Russia (5 more than in July).
🔹 Over the first eight months of 2026, the average pace of Russia’s already slow advance was 3.5 times slower than in 2025. Russia has occupied less than 0.2% of additional Ukrainian territory this year.
🔹 Even in the Donbas, where Russian forces concentrate most of their effort, Russia has failed to achieve an operational breakthrough and still does not control 20% of the Donetsk region. At its current pace, it would take the Russian occupiers over two years to capture that remaining land.
Whatever fabricated maps Russian generals present to Putin, the reality on the ground shows that he is not winning and will not win this war.
Given the situation in the Russian economy and its inability to counter Ukraine’s long-range sanctions, things will only get worse for Russia.
Yes, it’s very difficult for Ukraine as well. For our warriors, frontline communities, and all of our country. We are in the fifth year of full-scale war that we didn’t choose. Every family has been scarred by it in one way or another.
But clearly, Moscow is not in a strong position either. And certainly not in a position to dictate terms."

Ukrainian Defence Forces have neutralised more than 260,000 Russian fixed-wing and copter-type drones since the beginning of 2026.

All strikes have been verified in DELTA, Ukraine’s digital battlefield management system. The verified figures include around 195,000 fixed-wing drones and 66,000 copters.

Since the beginning of 2026, Ukrainian Defence Forces have also recorded more than 1 million verified enemy targets hit by Ukrainian UAVs.
