In the Netherlands, this day is not about politics, division, or debate. It is about remembrance. We honor all civilians and soldiers who lost their lives in wars and peacekeeping missions, then and now.

At 8:00 PM, the country falls silent for two minutes. No words, no noise — just reflection.

We remember the cost of freedom.
We remember the fragility of peace.
And we remind ourselves of the responsibility to protect both.

This silence speaks louder than anything else.
