André Devambez est peintre mais aussi illustrateur ! Il a pour commanditaire les grandes revues de l'époque comme "L'Illustration", "Le Figaro illustré", "Le Rire" ou encore "Fantasio".
Son imagination débordante passe de la veine humoristique à une atmosphère plus fantastique, invente des monstres ou des paysages inédits. Rien d'étonnant à ce que l'univers de Gulliver, qui invite aux jeux d'échelle et aux cadrages audacieux, lui corresponde autant !
